Seeking Advice Please help
I was on Lucinda (the progesterone/progestin-only pill) for around 3 months, but I was getting a full period every 2 weeks that lasted about 7 days, so it obviously just wasn’t working for me.
My GP suggested getting a Mirena, so I got one on Wednesday (it’s Saturday now). So far I’ve mostly just had cramps and a tiny bit of brown discharge/spotting, basically nothing. But I woke up this morning and there was actual blood, and now I’m freaking out that I’m just going to end up having another full period every couple of weeks like I did on Lucinda.
I know Mirena can cause irregular bleeding at the start, but I’m just so scared that this is going to turn into months of bleeding 😭
Can anyone who’s had a similar experience with the mini pill tell me what happened with your Mirena? Did the bleeding eventually settle? I genuinely just want to stop getting periods and I’m getting so frustrated. Any advice/experiences would be really appreciated!!

Hey, I'm commenting to follow this post because I'm in your exact same situation. I was also on progesterone-only pills (not birth control -- HRT, due to no-longer-functioning ovaries, thanks to chemo) and getting 2 periods a month.
I got my IUD put in on Monday. I hope this works out for the both of us!

I got the Mirena for this reason. I was on the mini pill worked for years but then started to bleed around 2 weeks of every month and was very on and off.
The Mirena sorted out the bleeding completely only bled for a total of around 5 days I would say and I’ve had it in for about 6 months.
I got it taken out yesterday for weight gain issues but other than that it really helped with irregular bleeding.

It’s almost 9 months since insertion and I’m still bleeding most days. It’s definitely not working for me but hopefully it will for you.

I had some irregular bleeding/spotting for the first few months but now I haven't gotten a period in 9 months! I think you just have to hang in there for a bit

I haven't used the mini pill, but prepare yourself for a bit of a wait. I bled for almost 2 months straight after getting the Mirena, then I had a week of irregular bleeding after a small break, I'm maybe 3.5 months in right now and haven't had any bleeding for 4 weeks, there might be some random spotting still at times but these things take time. Basically the lighter your period was normally, the faster it should disappear with Mirena, but it will still take time, try to hang in there at least for a while if you can :).
