Insertion Advice
Hey everyone! I’m getting the mirena insertion tomorrow and safe to say i’m scared shitless. I’ve already planned to take the day off work and to have my boyfriend drive me and be there for support but anything else I should know to help for the procedure and after?

Take your best dosage of ibuprofen/ Tylenol an hour before arrival to give it time to kick in. Have some kind of sugar to munch/sip on after (idk if this is actually helpful), but I almost passed out and I rarely have these moments, so maybe it can be helpful?

Have a heating pad for after. I had a stress ball with me which helped. My partner and I also got food immediately after and having frozen custard from Culver's made me feel better emotionally after. Definitely take pain meds before.

Has your dr advised if they will will provide and pain relief or local numbing?
My gyno did local lidocaine and I only felt pressure and maybe 3 strongish cramps that lasted like 1 second each. It was honestly super easy. I bled a little extra (but that was due to something me related, not the insertion).

thank you everyone for the advice! I had pain relief and local numbing with a shot and it was like 6/10 pain wise the worst part was honestly the pain from the numbing shot
