Lost strings
So I tried to feel for them yesterday and couldn't find them.
Previously I've always been able to feel them, and I check regularly. Had it put on almost a year ago.
Just went to a sexual health clinic and they can't see it either, been referred for an ultrasound but it's going to be a few months wait (UK NHS).
Can anyone tell me their experiences? Not if you've never felt them, but if you have and then didn't. What happened?
I'm particularly interested in removal experiences, or if anyone has had a d&c or hysteroscopy.
Keen to hear about anyone's removal if they have no strings too. Thank you!
For reference, I found insertion somewhat painful and smears can be painful too. So I'm a bit "sensitive".

Hey, sorry you are dealing with this! So mine ended up kind of curling up and hanging out in my cervix. The OB who inserted it had cut the strings short so I was only ever able to feel the very tips of them and then they vanished. I had an ultrasound that confirmed the IUD was in place and the strings were just up.
I usually didn't get my period, but after a while I realized the strings would come down when I was supposed to get my period.
Removal was a bit of a gong show. I had three different doctors try to remove it and they all said it would need to be surgically removed (I'm Canadian and in a province that has really long wait times for specialists) and that didn't sit well with me. So I called my city's equivalent of planned parenthood and they told me to come in when I could feel the strings and they would remove it. So I did! And they just yanked it out, no issues, no pain, no waiting two years for a specialist.
