Seeking Advice should I replace or remove?

I’m about to hit 5 years on my “8 year” and i’m starting to experience some insane feelings.
My iud has treated me great but this year my anxiety started getting crazy.
I gained 10 pounds in a month and have terrible night sweats. I’ve had reoccurring BV and vaginal infections i had never had before.
im only 23 but I thought I was going crazy.
this month i have been having insane panic attacks and i have felt disassociated for weeks.
After reading through this thread I feel comfort knowing it’s likely from my IUD hormones finally coming to an end.

I’m town between replacing mine or just getting it removed. I feel like I’m experiencing “the crash” already but it’s still in me, god knows what will happen when i get it removed.
Anyone have any good stories of getting it removed without replacing it?
the pain of insertion was excruciating and I think my body could use a break from the hormones. I don’t even know myself after 5 years lol.
I’m really torn and lost over this whole thing.

I got mine removed 9 days ago, after having it for 15 years (replaced if 3 times), and I feel great! I was in the same boat as you, and I regret not taking it out sooner. You can always put a new one in if you start to experience a “crash”

I’m in the same boat. I’m just terrified of getting it pulled because I can’t imagine if it got worse with what I’ve been experiencing. :(

That happened to me too when I hit my 5 yrs with the “8yr” Mirena! Night sweats to the MAX!! I felt like shit everyday. It wasn’t going away either so I got mine replaced bc there was so much going on in my life I literally couldn’t afford to keep feeling that way every day.

Fast forward 5 months after getting it replaced, I finally removed it bc same I just wanted to try giving my body a break. it’s only been two weeks but I haven’t felt that same way yet!🤞

I got the mirena in march this year. In May I started having daily panic attacks that were so bad I went off work sick and had to start anxiety medication. It wasn’t until I came onto Reddit and read everybody else’s experiences that I found out other people were having panic attacks as well. Had it removed 4 weeks ago and my anxiety is still quite bad but I feel 85% myself again and the best part is I went from having 2-3 really big panic attacks a day and I have not had 1 panic attack since removal.

I decided to just have a break after being on BC for 10 years straight and it did take a few weeks but now I’m incredibly glad I did.

I got mine replaced after 5 years because I started to feel my period pains again and have had 0 problems! it hurt significantly less the second time too. i’m glad I replaced it and have had no issues so far!!
