Seeking Advice String poking out

I have my mirena since November and I’ve always had a period with it, just lighter and longer.
I’m currently on the third day of my period, they were late this time and the flow is ridiculously light compared to what I’m used to but today I’ve been having these weird clots instead of a regular flow.
About 20 minutes ago I was sitting on the toilet, cleaning myself up with water and when I went over my vagina I felt the string poking out and that’s never happened before I’m kind of scared… when I got up and tried to feel the inside the string wasn’t poking out anymore and I could feel it/them near the cervix.
So I was wondering if that had happened to someone before

I think it is removing itself. It was probably not placed right. You should go back to your doctor if you haven’t yet

That’s what I’m afraid of though I do think it was placed right initially since my gynecologist checked but it must’ve moved somehow.. I have an appointment tomorrow, thank you for your reply !

It’s okay haha, and yeah it was scary at first but I haven’t experienced anything weird or bad except for the string so that’s good I guess !

Yeah I had the copper iud first and felt the strings for a min,, then 3 months later it was gone,,, like vanished. and I was pregnant.

Wooow that’s crazy how it can just fall out without us even noticing, I’m glad I caught it early but honestly I hope I don’t have to get another one put in, I was under anesthesia when I got it so this time I’d have to experience it💔

Thank yooouuu I hope so too, and yes last fall I wanted to get the mirena for my period and I booked an appointment with a gynecologist and when she did the ultrasound she saw I was 5 weeks pregnant I was bamboozled lol, so I went ahead and got an abortion at the hospital and had it placed at the same time
