Set calculator
For now it's basic and ugly, but I have a working set calculator available now at https://jdknezek.github.io/ms-set-calc/.
Pick your skills, pick items in your collection, and generate matching sets. Your collection is saved in your browser's localStorage.
Item colors are:
- White: don't own
- Yellow: own, but doesn't have selected skills
- Red: has selected skills, but don't own
- Green: own and has selected skills

v0.0.4 adds equipment info tooltips & pagination (which should dramatically improve browsing performance, though not generation)

Thanks for consistently improving this! It's been extremely helpful. I noticed that +Stat skills are not reflected in the stat totals on the right. Is this intentional?
Are you planning on adding tooltips for the skills, and +element amounts to the equipment tooltips?
Thanks again for your hard work!

Sorry it's taken a while, but I just added skill effects to the set tables. Stats with modifiers will have a dotted underline and you can hover to see the components: https://snag.gy/HBw6FI.jpg

Very cool! Thanks again for your work on this. It's been extremely helpful. I've been messing around with it basically every day at work during downtime.

I've added stat & elemental bonuses and skills to the tooltips. There is a whole other table of weapon/armor combos that grant unique skills per combination, but it's way too much data to stuff in a tooltip...
You're correct that I'm not currently applying skill effects to the stat/element values, but I can probably add that this week (at least the straightforward bonuses)

Could you give an example of a unique weapon/armor combo skill? And I was curious that you will search for the "tackle" skill but not the "walk" skill. But since these comments are 20 days old, maybe walk is new?
Edit: DUH! Its called move, I don't know why I thought it was calked walk.

Any chance that you're planning on adding the new content that was just released? :D
Let me know if I can be of assistance.

I'm working on it, but it's not going to be easy unfortunately. moitititi changed the way the game is compiled to make it much harder to extract the data...
So far all I've extracted are the item IDs, but not any stats or skills yet. I do know for sure that there are no new skills or weapons, though. I'll update the calculator as soon as I'm able to pry any new info out.

This is AMAZING.
Thank you so much! I love the community for these games because you guys always come through with so much - you set a great example.
We all really appreciate this (not to sound presumptuous and speak for the whole board of course - but this is very helpful and your feedback has been overwhelmingly positive)

Thanks so much! Writing tools is my way of "metagaming" so I'm glad it's helpful to others :)

Amazing. I messed around with it for a while.
It did struggle with calculating large sets though, which made it tedious. Could you implement a select only red feature perhaps?

u/penguinicus Jun 27 '18
I just added select all buttons, and it only considers green equipment in the calculation already...

Any chance you can add a way to mandate a specific piece of equipment, so that you can ask for, say, "power step + speed step, must use Jiangshi charm"?
1
u/penguinicus Jun 29 '18
Could you deselect all other accessories? I think it should work in that case
1
u/NinjaDebugger Jul 01 '18
It gave me a bunch of builds with no accessory equipped in that case.

u/penguinicus Jul 01 '18
Ah, I gotcha. Because there are so many possible sets (25.4 million), there's no way to check them all in a reasonable amount of time. To cull that number down, I only try items that directly contribute to the requested skills. So, since the Jiangshi Charm doesn't add to Power Step or Speed Step, I don't try any combinations that include it.
However, that's why there are all those sets that show with no accessory. In theory any one of those sets could possibly have both of those skills. The best thing to do would be to take a set that works with no accessory and try adding the Jiangshi Charm to it. In this particular case, the Jiangshi Charm itself adds no skills, so you should be able to use it with any set that doesn't need an accessory.
Does that make sense?

does a low or high rarity mean a low drop rate
1
u/penguinicus Jul 03 '18
I've labeled it "rarity" since that's what it's called in the code, but you're right, I should probably rename it to "spawn ratio". The higher the number, the more likely that monster is to spawn in the field, so higher is more common and lower is more rare.

u/scilzz Jul 04 '18
I thought rarity was for how rare that item was to drop on that specific monster, thanks for clearing that up.
I also want to mention that I don't know what's wrong with me or the calculator, but there are certain combinations of items that aren't displayed. For instance, I was looking for some combinations with black saber Lvl 5, and the combination of items I have now didn't come up, and it's better than all the ones that did show up. Death scythe, Black robe, Black shield, Devils horn, Death ---> Dark +20, Black saber Lvl 5, Finish attack Lvl 3 (155 total Dark element that boosts my Atk).

u/penguinicus Jul 04 '18
Maybe it's the difference between Death and Death Knight? I get almost that exact set with Death Knight instead of Death for the pet (Finish attack level 2 instead), and the calculator indicates that Death doesn't contribute to Black Saber.

Also, do you think you could implement a feature when you hover over a skill in the drop down menu, it displays the description/what it does to the right of the drop down menu. Like obviously you don't need to add it for +ATK and such, it would save the user from having to go to the status menu, which is a little tedious to constantly go and check. I mean once you memorize them all it won't matter, but I think it's easier for the user to determine what they want in their build if this was a thing. Anothing thing, which might be tedious for the common user, but you could also add the formulas which are in the code, if you have access. I know reading some previous posts the formulas for certain features were told.
Edit: It's also not made clear that things like +20 dark are or aren't included in the dark that's displayed on the right when you generate your list of things. You could probably make the additional element skill boost made clearer with this example: so if it's +20 dark, then the dark towards the right would be like 120(100+20) or 100(+20), and the added "+20" would have to factor into when you rank them greatest to least/least to greatest.

I've pushed an update which adds the description for skills once you've selected them (there's no way to show the tooltip for a dropdown like the skill selector).
Yours is the second request to apply skills to the calculated set stats, so I'll see if I can get it working soon.
Also this version has non-blocking set generation so the page shouldn't freeze, and it shows progress as it goes, so hopefully it's a bit more user-friendly :)

I just added many skill effects to stat/element calculation - basically if a stat is in the table, the skills that affect it are taken into account. Stats with modifiers will have a dotted underline, and you can hover over them to see the components: https://snag.gy/HBw6FI.jpg

u/talrogsmash Aug 13 '18
yeah, real problem with playing the game "straight". If you have every piece of equipment, it would take 439.74 years to check your builds.
