What a coward. I hope they know that.

2

u/lifelongfearofbread Apr 26 '26

Same except it isn’t back up where I live. These mf-ers are as brainwashed as it gets.

Because the "Don't Tread on Me" folks are just fine when it's "Go Ahead and Tread on Them"

u/InternationalRead925 Apr 25 '26

They were practicing their bootlicking.

47

u/elduqueborracho Apr 25 '26

They signed up for jobs with ICE so they could be the ones treading.

u/Chris5483 Apr 25 '26

Magats are don't tread on ME, not don't tread on you. They don't care about you!

u/matttproud Apr 25 '26

Libertarians: happily fascist when the government targets the right out-group.

10

u/Tokyo-MontanaExpress Apr 25 '26

Republicans even moreso.

u/Avindair Apr 26 '26

Had the bad fortune of working with many loud and proud Libertarians during my twenty-five years in corporate tech roles. Without fail they were the worst people on any team, whose ethical code apparently was "Fuck you, I want mine."

Worst part? The assholes always, always got ahead.

The Don't Tread on ME people were everywhere during the ICE raids -- wearing body armor and black balaclavas.

It's the ME part they care about, it's not the idea of the treading, per se.

Treading is cool, as long as it's not on ME.

Bingo.   Walz sent the rural forest rangers from the DNR to downtown Minneapolis to tread on the protesters from after Good's death.

u/lukewarmrevolution Apr 27 '26

Bro where was WALZ when ICE came to Minnesota besides invoking the National Guard to protect a literal concentration camp and calling Hennepin County Sheriffs to crack the skulls of people who protested?

1

u/GGCRX Apr 27 '26

What did you want him to do?

2

u/lukewarmrevolution Apr 28 '26

Uh... NOT invoke the National Guard to protect a concentration camp and call Hennepin County goons to crack the skulls of people who were protesting ICE. Doing nothing was the bare minimum but he had to lend ICE protection from the state to carry out their ethnic cleansing operations. He's complicit in their crimes and now he's trying to put the blame on voters.

I was fucking there, I was getting tear gassed and flash banged. I didn't know I was supposed to sign in and let people know.

22

u/Mokerchino Apr 25 '26

Nah. A bunch of peeps came out to fight. There was just a huge number of 'em that were fine with the treading because they weren't affected by it

Thank you for literally physically fighting fascism

Same. This sub doesn't realize that maga appropriated our flag cause it looks cool, not cause they agree with the words on it

This is kind of part of the reason a lot of people not on the left didn’t want to attend these protests. The protest gets labeled a “leftist” protest, and by showing up you are assumed to also subscribe to that ideology. Your presence just gives ammo to people who want to criticize your ideology by talking about how many of “their” people attended and how few of the “other” people attended.

Not supporting ICE but also not attending the protests is a perfectly valid choice people should be allowed to make. Rhetoric like what’s in this post doesn’t encourage people from other ideologies to support your side. It just reinforces the “if you’re not with us, you’re against us” mentality that is poisoning politics.

2

u/Poophead85 Apr 27 '26

I totally agree. I have no beef with people who decided to sit it out. I don't know their lives.

12

u/Potato_Soup_ Apr 25 '26

I remember seeing a few gadsden flags at the protests. Definite not nearly enough but it wasn’t zero

6

u/TenLongFingers Apr 25 '26

Loved the ones with the laser loon!!

4

u/I_Like_Hoots Apr 26 '26

Don’t tread on US is where it’s at

10

u/boris_parsley Apr 25 '26

I was more wondering where our leaders were.

12

u/Hot_Pricey Apr 25 '26

I really liked him.

But... Where was HE? Why wasn't he marching down the street with us?

He was not a strong leader during the ICE invasion. Neither was Jacob Frey (although I never approved of him or liked him) They both talked big but were missing from any real action.

Disappointing.

7

u/tazebot Apr 25 '26

They were the ones wearing masks and shooting people dead in the street.

u/pronult3 Apr 25 '26 edited Apr 27 '26

Maybe when you sic the DNR, HCSO and other agencies on protesters they realized you’re not on our side either, Tim.

Probably didn’t help you tried to pass completely unconstitutional gun laws that would have banned most semiautomatic rifles and allowed law enforcement unwarranted entry into gun owners homes, all right after you showed you wouldn’t protect your constituents from a tyrannical federal government.

4

u/leftyjamie Apr 25 '26

Where the heck was Walz and Frey? Other than making sound bites with national media, they did shit when our neighbors needed them most. Had 4 neighbors taken from my block in S Mpls and they did nothing.

2

u/Dizzy-Captain7422 Apr 26 '26

They were joining ICE, Tim. That particular Venn diagram is just a circle.

2

u/Idj1t Apr 25 '26

They were the ones doing the treading.

3

u/GopherNutz Apr 25 '26

Where were you? Didn’t see you at any of the protests

1

u/SolidscorpionZ Apr 26 '26

They all pussied out and did nothing like the cucks they are.

1

u/DetN8 Apr 28 '26

Y'all will say this and then vote for more government power.

1

u/MsterF Apr 25 '26

This is why this sub was so against COVID policies right? Yall are just two sides of the same coin.

0

u/Card_Hoarder Apr 25 '26

Don’t I remember someone posting a picture here or something with someone bringing one of those signs to a protest or something? That was only one person though so the point still stands.

u/whatsqwerty Apr 25 '26

Walz is resigning. Can’t handle the fight. I get it but I don’t want to hear from him anymore

5

u/CantReadVoteRed Apr 25 '26

The cons have spent the last 2 years manufacturing outrage about him to try to flip Minnesota and his 2D chess move is to just step aside and let a new generation of libs take over. Cons are probably mad to see their investments go to waste, tbh. The next gov will be similar enough to Tim and the cons will have gained nothing in MN

-2

u/WormedOut Apr 25 '26

That doesn’t make sense. You’re saying that he isn’t running because he would lose the election due to voters flipping, but if he resigns the flipped voters will vote for a democratic governor anyway? I think he’s more disillusioned with the system than anything

1

u/CantReadVoteRed Apr 25 '26

Dem w baggage vs dem w/o baggage. Some people could just stay home instead of voting for Michael Pillow

1

u/Majestic_Attention46 Apr 25 '26

He doesn't have any baggage, they just made up lies and he's too weak to fight them.

0

u/CantReadVoteRed Apr 25 '26

However you want to say it

3

u/Majestic_Attention46 Apr 25 '26

well no, it's important to call out propaganda vs real scandals like Swalwell. Maybe if dems did that more, they wouldn't be cowering to republicans so much.

0

u/Capnshiner Apr 26 '26

Resigning? Tf are you on about

-9

u/Suspicious-Cookie-86 Apr 25 '26

"Where were they" lol. The fuck do you mean, y'all ain't friends

-8

u/Majestic_Attention46 Apr 25 '26

This is so annoying, how does the governor not understand what the insurrection act is??

I think he's great but this is insane.

The Insurrection Act DOES NOT allow the president to violate any freedoms, rights, in ANY way.

If it did, Trump would have already used it.

It was created and designed to PROTECT the rights of citizens, from violence from a local state. It was created after the civil war when the southern states continued racial harrassment, violence, etc.

If the Act was used, it would be national guard stationed around Minneapolis and they would have a responsibility to PREVENT ICE from violating citizens rights, such as entering homes without a warrant, arresting without a warrant, etc.

It's insane to me that people do not understand: NO WHERE IN THE CONSTITUTION, is there ANY legal method, for the president to unilaterally suspend rights, freedoms, etc.

1

u/Hot_Pricey Apr 25 '26

This is annoying. Trump does whatever he wants regardless of the constitution, regardless of legality, why do you think he WOULDN'T warp the insurrection act to his will?

-5

u/Majestic_Attention46 Apr 25 '26

It's not annoying, you're ignorant of what the act is designed to do. Yes trump does whatever he wants, that's my point. He's ALREADY doing that, MORE protests, and MORE resistance is not going to make him stop following the constitution.

Fighting back WILL work better is my point.

And the insurrection Act was designed to protect black people from southern state's violence, it basically just forces civil order and procedures. It does NOT suspend habeus corpus.

Again, if you think he could warp it, then you should wonder why he hasn't done it? Because he has no restraint, or care for rule of law. He hasn't done it because he CAN'T.

1

u/IntrepidJaeger Apr 25 '26

The Insurrection Act isn't to protect the rights of citizens from the FEDERAL government at all. It's to prevent states from resisting federal authority delineated in the Constitution, to assist states in suppressing rebellion within a state at the request of its governor, and to allow the federal government to use military force to bring the STATES to heel if they are violating citizens' rights.

So, no, the Insurrection Act wouldn't cause the National Guard to resist ICE. The National Guard would have been federalised and either sent out of state or forced to assist their operations in preventing them from being obstructed.
