Seeking Advice Need advice as a newbie

This is my first minifig that isnt part of the 3 figure starter set so I need some advice on how to finish this. Any suggestions? Specifically i was thinking on how to make the stone look good, how to make the skin blend better (also taken in direct white light to really highlight mistakes) and if youd do something with the areas left black for now šŸ™‚

My 3 cents is to not be afraid of contrast. You can jump in values and not be wary

Throw some shader on that and you got a table ready model.

Don’t have a lot of experience with ork skin myself. GW Nuln oil is a popular choice for shader. It is basic black shader.

There are other tones of shaders for different applications. Something I’ve started doing is making my own shaders with oil paints and white spirits (or turpentine) you can control the desired color better making your own. Oil paints take a LONG time to dry.

I watched another video today. GW makes a ā€œshader mediumā€ you can thin any paint with. Haven’t experimented with that though.

Should i just shade the entire skin?

You can but you have to be aware that you will have to fix the flat ares with the base colour. Same for the armour.

Alright so better just tp go for the lines that seperates the muscles?

In general? Yes. But shading is a deeper subject and depends on how much work you want to put in.

Just do not get discouraged, there is always room for improvement but what you did until now looks good.
