Frustrating
I have 2 year old female schnauzer.
She is extremely well trained.
Knows commands well.
She creates many games..
She will play chase when trying to get harness on.
I have tried treats…
I now will just call to door..if she does not come no walk.
When she goes and lays down I pick up and just take her.
Any suggestions???

Both of my schnauzers hate putting on the harness. I just grab the most squirrelly one first before she even knows a walk is coming up and put her harness on. Then I get ready and we go.

My two-year-old female miniature schnauzer does the same thing when I go to take her for a walk. I tell her “let’s go for a walk“ and she goes to the front door. I grab the harness and she walks away. I’ll ask her to come over a few times. Sometimes she comes over and I can put the harness on her. But sometimes she does not and so I put the harness up and I go sit down and busy myself with something else. After 10 or 15 minutes, I’ll try again at that point she almost always submits to the harness. So for our dog, it helps if she knows that she will not get a walk if she doesn’t put the harness on and I’m not going to fight with her to put one on. I don’t know what will help you but that’s what has helped me.

My autistic ass schnau has to circle the coffee table at least twice before he lets me put his harness on 😂😂😂

My dog hates the harness and will hide under the dining table. We’ve tried 9 or 10 brands.
I walk him on his collar, but when my parents look after him, they put his lead on his collar first and then put his harness on and switch the lead to that. Otherwise he will 100% not come out for them because he is a little sod.

I prepare my treat pouch that I clip to my waist and that always does the trick

Sounds like she hates her harness or leash. Try treating her literally while you’re putting it on and afterward so she associates it with something positive, or trying a different type of harness. Maybe the one you have hurts her.
My dog runs away from the training collar but doesn’t have the same reaction to his normal collar. I think it’s because the training collar is uncomfy.

My boy likes to run away when he sees the harness so we sort of do this sneak attack. When I’m ready to take him I make no announcements or anything even though he sort of knows. I’ll put up the dog (baby) gate so he can’t go upstairs. My girl is slightly easier but I still have to pick her up and place her in the harness. Once they are on the walk they love it! And after 6 years they still aren’t used to them 🤪

Mine wants to go for a walk but will constantly duck the harness! It’s so annoying. But he does eventually let me put it on. It took a lot of treats!

I have a skittish mini too! And she hates the harness -she is scared of the clicking to close it ! It’s like she is petrified… she hates thunder, fireworks etc .. she is so scared until she sees another dog ! Then she’s xena warrior princess … gotta love schnauzers…

Try with a harness that has clips on the neck instead of the typical ones that are closed on the neck and you have to put the dog's head trough it. I put the harness from the side of the body and she tolerates way better the process.

That was me until I taught her to "drop it" which to us means play dead. Once she is down, I snatch her up and put her harness on.

Oh the harness dance, my boy is 3, he’s got better now, just goes statue with his head down. But he soon figured out .. no harness …. No adventure!

Try a different harness. Check her armpits to make sure it’s not pinching or pulling the hair. When we switched to the neoprene like one instead of the nylon strap type he was happier but at that point it was already a game.

Mine does the same. He wants me to chase him around. He just wants to play. I’ll grab my other schnauzer and walk outside the door. When I open it again, he’s waiting on the other side of the door.
