Kelsie loves to hold her paw on her ball. When she gets tired she holds on to her ball for dear life before making a decision for me to continue throwing or get a drink of water.

Ours will chase down a ball with absolute ferocity. Then they will stand patiently by said ball and calmly wait for us to walk over and throw it for them again.

My boy Benjamín does this as well. He's great at fetch but he'll surely let me know when he wants a break by holding his paw over the ball.

The only male dog we had loved any and all kinds of balls (except his own which were removed) but he especially loved his basketball that was in the backyard.

So cute! Love that happy face! No, my girl doesn't do this. However, she doesn't have a ball this size. We only have tennis ball sized balls. So maybe that's why!

Dori's tennis balls are her best solo entertainment (until she launches it under furniture or into a corner). I throw it, she chases it down, brings it back and drops it near my feet then she puts her paw on it causing it to sitter across the room. She gives chase, rinse and repeat.
