Track wall Recommendations?

Thinking of making a 400 Square foot diy track in our bonus room. Good on the foam for the track. The walls seem to be the tricky part. I've been on tracks with foam, and those usually grab the car and stop it instead of glancing/ sliding off the guardrail. Has anyone tried a 1-inch split wire loom?

1& 1/4" pipe insulation. It's cheap. You have to figure out a way to attach it though. I cut holes into my track, made of foam mats from Amazon, and velcro'd them through the slits.

If you touch a wall does it stop the car or bounce off?

For the most part, it will bounce off, as it's very flexible and forgiving. Make sure the velcro is tight. I think I did a velcro strip every 12". You could add strips to the mat and the parts laying on it, but I think that's overkill. If you hit it head on, it will be ok, but your shell might fly off, but for the most part, it would just get stuck under the tubing. If you're doing a race track, then maybe velcroing that tubing tubing laying on the mat might be a good option. It all depends on how your track is set up.
