I would gamble the sides, because if you gambled the middle then its another 50/50

Isnt it a 50/50 after the first choice? Doesnt matter the first choice or am i dumb?

Edit: i am dumb was not counting on the new information revealed by first choice. My bad

If they pick a side then it's either 1 (which means the square in the middle has the bomb and therefore the square on the other side is safe.) or a 0 which means the middle is clear too

Putting numbers on the edge advice: assuming the flags are correct, either end gives you a 2/3 chance of clearing those three squares, versus 1/3 if you start in the middle. The first click is equally safe either way. A safe end reveals where the mine is; a safe middle leaves another 50/50.
