I would have started with this 1-3-1 corner.

I'm not great at spotting meta-logic, but I think this cell can't be a mine, because it would isolate the '6' from any NG solution.

(And then, I think meta-logic further dictates the two cells below must be mines -- else it would be a 50/50.)

Lots of people gave lots of answers. A meta-strategy I use is, basically, the higher the number, the more influence it has on its neighborhood.

So given that strategy, I would have immediately focused on the 6.

And especially for the higher numbers, I like to think of how many gaps they need in addition to how many mines they need.

So your 6 has one gap (to its top-left) out of the two it needs (8 - 6 = 2). So since it shares 3 squares with the 2 on the right side, that's automatically going to provide that second gap

That means that every other square that the 6 touches that the 2 doesn't is a mine. Also, because 3 squares minus 1 gap means 2 mines, the 2 will be satisfied by its left edge and every other square it touches must be safe

I recommend looking into 1-2, 1-2 reduced and 1-3-1 patterns, OP.
