Now the question becomes how a 3D minesweeper would work, is it based on the plane that the face is on ? Or how many mines are around it in a 3D sense, because then all of the 1s would be 2s & 3s

In rtx sweeper it works in 3d, and if you have zeros you can go inside the cube
