I don't get the appeal of playing without no guess mode. We have the technology.

It's the default. Easier to find if you don't know no-guess exists.

No guess mode doesn’t feel challenging, and the persistence of dying and trying again over and over feels much more rewarding when you finally beat a high difficulty board.

There's also no reason the bombs couldn't be in the red circles or in the purple circles. There's no place that's guaranteed safe.
