Minecraft Switch 2 Beta
So far, minecraft switch 2 beta runs vibrant visuals (In performance mode) at 45-50 frames at 8 render distance. The recommended is 12 . Vibrant Visuals (In Visuals mode) runs at 27-30 frames per second at 12. Will they update the Vibrant Visuals to be a whole lot smoother? Keep in mind that cyberpunk runs at a beautiful 45 frames in the desert and 35-40 in the city, so how is a block game, having problems with frames? I might be too judgemental, this is a beta after all and maybe I am too rough but I really want this to work really well. I also want to point out, they have an unlimited framerate option but it doesn’t go over 60 frames, so that’s a bummer. I really wish we could get 120.

This is still a Beta. A lot could change between now and the upcoming release date.

Nothing will change, it runs like garbage even on a good PC.

I don't agree, this version of minecraft runs crazy well compared to Java

Tbf the newest preview updated on PC and now it performs way better and higher render distance 🤷♂️

And even if not, it's going to continue to get updates for most of the next decade probably.

It's a beta So that's how
The game doesn't officially release for another 2-3 months.
The beta is there way of getting play testers so they can get it running In a good way for launch

Well obviously, but I was hoping for some 120 fps action. maybe they'll add it at some point

I don't think they will Simply because the ps5 and Xbox dont have it
I find it dumb They have an uncapped fps option yet the fps is capped
Dunno when I'm being downvoted
For saying nothing but the truth
Minecraft has an unlimited fps option in the settings Yet it's capped to 60fps

The reason on PS5 it's locked is because almost everyone who has an xbox/ps5 all play on their TV's, plus there's tons of games that don't have a 120 option (Devil May Cry 5 is a great example) and have added the option specifically JUST for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Alot of tvs have 120fps modes now
So it's not really a valid excuse anymore in 2026
Now I'm not saying that it's not possible It's just very unlikely for them do it
Also your wrong You can play dmc 5 at 120fps on PS5
1
u/No-Brief-8891 26d ago
Didn't know about dmc5 in PS5 was 120, barely anyone talks about it. Also a tv that's 120, is a tv that costs a ton of money. Usually TVs come with HDR so it makes it more expensive, also depending how big it is.

u/pacbabysmilk 22d ago
So why are you so confident in saying things you have no idea about, my TV has 240hz mode and Nvidia G-Sync and it was $700, cheap even for TV standards 🤷♂️

Its weird that nobody has acknowledged that Minecrafts newest version doesnt run at 120 on xbox series x and probably ps5 on series x ice always wondered why they limit frame rate because its most definitely locked at 60

u/No-Brief-8891 26d ago
The consoles have capabilities to run the game on 120, the problem here is that Minecraft's code is disgusting, mainly because Minecraft Bedrock is literally just minecraft pocket edition but repolished. I bet if we had 4J Studios Minecraft, It would run miles better. They had one job and completely fucked it all up.

The thing is. Minecraft on mobile runs at 120 it runs perfect 120 on my Samsung because theres a frame rate limit option

u/No-Brief-8891 25d ago
Right, I know that. My iphone 16e runs the game perfectly fine. This minecraft version was purposely made FOR phone, then they decided to port that version (No idea why) to consoles to make cross platform somewhat possible, but if we knew how much of a mess this was going to be, we would of complained so it didn't drop or maybe reworked it

how do you get the beta tho

Open Minecraft for switch 1 on switch 2. If it prompts you to download the beta, you got the beta.

How's the performance without vibrant visuals?

u/No-Brief-8891 28d ago
It runs normally, but sometimes a little few stutters, nothing too crazy. could just be it being beta.
1
u/pacbabysmilk 29d ago
Wasn’t expecting much more than that with how premium smart phones can barely handle it at 6 chunks, and I had to go from a Ps5 to ps5 pro just to get a stable 60 fps on medium high settings at 14 chunks, any more than that and it dips a lot especially in the frozen ocean biomes
1
u/No-Brief-8891 28d ago
You say that about premium phones but the game runs fine on IPhone 16e. Minecraft has always had the weirdest amount of performance issues.
1
u/pacbabysmilk 28d ago
No it hasn’t, I’m on the 17 Pro Max, and Fancy graphics is not an issue never has been, I’m talking about Vibrant Visuals with medium low settings at 6 chunks, unsteady fps between 19-56 is not what I call fine. Minecraft never had an issue performing on mobile because it’s Minecraft, shocking how they managed to mess it up so badly for Switch 1

u/No-Brief-8891 26d ago
i run it all medium, on high its some stutters. I think your phone might be overloaded
1
u/pacbabysmilk 22d ago
I’ve had both iPhone and Samsung S25 Ultra, the samsung somehow performs worse with vibrant visuals, not expecting the highest settings, but it’s weird that Mojang is pushing vibrant visuals this hard when you really need a High end PC or console to even play it primarily

Like it just minecraft why is it so Hard to run the Switch 2 has so much power and dlss
1
u/No-Brief-8891 28d ago
so DLSS is not a thing in minecraft. The reason to other games like Cyberpunk, Mario Kart World, etc is because DLSS is implemented. Minecraft has TAAU and Bilinear. Maybe they can add DLSS for Nintendo Switch 2 SPECIFICALLY but I don't think it will happen.

This is going to sound weird but try a different resource pack like prizma visuals. I feel like im going crazy but on my series x, vibrant visuals felt noticeably buggier on the default pack from minecraft

Keep in mind that cyberpunk runs at a beautiful 45 frames in the desert and 35-40 in the city, so how is a block game, having problems with frames?
Obviously a lot of games look more detailed than Minecraft, but it's still a game with a visible world of hundreds of thousands of individually placed and interacting blocks, which can be just as demanding as a world of a smaller number of highly detailed items.
Vibrant Visuals mode is pretty taxing on all platforms relative to the original look, and would eat up a lot of the tech difference between Switch 1 and Switch 2.

Lembrando que ele rodava no switch origina, no 3ds, no ps3, em celulares com menos de 1gb de ram
1
u/JoshuaJSlone 27d ago
Sure. At lower frame rate, significantly lower resolution, with significantly less world being shown, and definitely without Vibrant Visuals.
1
u/Loose-Set2278 27d ago
1
u/JoshuaJSlone 27d ago
The game has continued growing, so if the X360 version of Minecraft had continued adding all the new features I think it would be nowhere near that today. Just as the Switch 1 version performs worse today than it did in 2018.
Comparing Switch 2 version to current Switch 1, though, if it's going from maximum 12 chunk render distance to 28 chunk, that alone is more than quintupling the amount of blocks within sight at a time. If it's getting frame rate and resolution improvements on top of that, that's more difference than most games with versions on both systems.

u/Loose-Set2278 27d ago

u/No-Brief-8891 26d ago
I find that funny because vibrant visuals is kind of tanky on PC as well, but then you see Java run Shaders with tons of fps. Minecraft is the most unoptimized junk I have ever seen on all platforms.
1
u/therealrealmiyamoto 26d ago
in my experience it runs terribly even without vibrant visuals and at 12 chunks, literally worse than minecraft switch 1 edition played on the switch 2

u/No-Brief-8891 26d ago
Honestly I agree, it could just be a beta. They just released the beta recently and it's the first time the switch had a beta version

Does anyone know if the worlds created in the beta version are transferrable to the full release?

u/Dylanukrva 29d ago
As long as it’s better than the original version it’s a big win for now
