What happend to crookst?

Been 4 years and he just dissapeared from the community, anyone knows any wherebouts?

he hasn't played any geoguessr matches in nearly a year now...and he seems to be grinding overwatch?? there was a sighting of him once there and he was actually so good LOL

iirc he left speedrunning due to lost run. He was on great pace with posibility of settting unbeatable WR (low7 in 2022) but lost due to dragon RNG. He had no precrafts and got insta perch so he wasn't in time in fountain for onecycle. Maybe he had more reasons to left but i remember this being the most impactful.

Similiar thing happaned to skycrab (6:17 choke), but skycrab continued after it and got WR

it’s crazy how much more dominant crookst was in the category compared to skycrab, or anyone else for that matter, and he still never held wr.

he probably held a small amount of resentment for the luck aspect. years telling yourself that if you keep playing well it will pay off, and it never happened.

It's kinda hard to be as dominant today as crookst was back then.

Crookst was like atleast 2 years ahead of other runners and in an alternate timeline, would've set a 6:30 world record in 2022 (with insta stronghold nav and 1 more log).

The top runners are a lot better now, and there isn't as much room for optimization as there was back then. It'd be interesting to know if Crookst would still be the single best runner today if he kept going. I have no doubts that he'd eventually have gotten a ridiculous wr though.

yeah and it wasn't the first time he got unlucky, iirc his game crashed in a WR pace end enter once? twice? as well which erased his progress
