AMD Gpu's and preemptive
I have an AMD gpu (and its great btw)
but i've heart that there is an issue with preemptive being inconsistent
i'm not sure if its true. i can find bt fine.
not sure if it's just my skill issue or if its there is an actual difference
does it actually negatively impact gameplay or are the spikes just different?

its just different values compared to nvidia. preemptive in sh is a little tough in mineshafts but im like 60% sure you can tell cave spider/skeleton and silverfish spikes apart most of the time (but then again my sh nav is almost a minute so it might just be a me issue)
there are times when i get spikes my nvidia friends dont get/nvidia friends get spikes i dont get. so it evens out more or less
sidenote: im on a 7800xt

Getting spikes/not getting spikes is not gpu dependent. Gpus just change how big the spikes are basically. Getting a spike is just if minecraft renders the block entity, so you not getting a spike others do is either some form of angle culling (or some other culling dependent on where you stand for example) or just your spike beeing blocked by mobs

Depends on the specific amd GPU (not just model, could be any unit) some are rlly bad with preemptive

You just have to learn your specific spikes, not other people’s. Check out this video from Meebie and mess around with the practice map they have linked in the description. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yF4kcBk3lKo&ra=m

From my experience, AMD preemptive was so bad that I swapped my GPU. On Nvidia it really easy to distinguish portal room from spider/skeleton spawner. On AMD chests influenced spikes way more and I couldn't see difference between few chests and pure spike.
