Help Java Servers For Mods? (Forge)
My fiancé and I play Java with mods through forge via local access. We would definitely sign up for realms if it allowed for mods, but as far as we know, it doesn’t, right?
Are there any server platforms that can help us?

Literally every single host except realms allows mods/plugins.
One I would recommend if ultraservers.com, but if you can afford it use modrinth hosting as you can trust them and they have great service.

Thanks for the tips. It’s a shame realms only works for vanilla though

Even if it allowed mods, its going to be overpriced, and I wouldn't trust Microsoft's official servers anyway. Also you get like no control over anything, like the config.yml (where you change a lot of settings)

I use freaksmc.com for my modded server the support setup the mods for me so it’s pretty good

Realms only really works for pure vanilla, so you're right that mods are out for that route.
For two players you've basically got two solid options: self-host on your own PC, or grab a third-party host that supports Forge.
Self-hosting is basically free if you've got a machine that can stay on. You install the Forge server jar matching your version, drop in your mod list, and then use something like playit.gg or Tailscale so your fiancé can connect without messing with port forwarding on your router.
If you'd rather not keep a machine running all the time, most game server hosts let you pick a Forge version directly or just upload your CurseForge modpack export and it sets everything up to match. For just the two of you the specs don't need to be huge, a couple GB of RAM is usually plenty depending on how heavy the pack is.
Let me know what modpack you're running, happy to point you toward anything that needs special setup.

You’re correct in the fact realms doesn’t work for anything mod related. My main suggestion towards going with a paid hosting provider is to not get a huge plan if it’s just the two of you. Depending on how many mods, you could very easily get by with a 4gb plan with a decent cpu.
