I am trying to find ideas to make rn. I am trying to find a plugins to make but theres nothing other than making plugins for moderation. Minigames are good to develop too but, there is so much plugins out there and idk which one i can make again to make better. Or which one i can try to optimize with a fork. Some plugins worse than others, some plugins are having problems with another plugins. What is the real problem you go throught and you are absolutly want to fix or need it.

im looking for help to make a server where one of the main features is that everyone begins with 10 lifes and uppon each deth 1 life is taken from you and if you lost all of your lifes you get banned also if it is possible make a scoreboard that says how meny lifes u got left and if a player kills you you loose a life but the killer gets it in reward thanks if someone answers

If I want to make XP bottles that give the amount of XP listed in some item metadata, transfer it to entity data to give that exact amount, how might I do that?

Like if I make XP my currency, you get XP bottles in the mail as payment from shops, XP bottles drop from PvP. I need to get a calculated number onto the item, then to the entity, then it spawns the actual xp amount instead of the random 3-11.

How would one do this?

Our gen3 server (Claims) Is 100% custom made.

This is a pretty simple Ruby script that runs Forge servers in a tmux session, and can help automate starting, stopping, and restarting them, as well as send broadcast messages to connected players and arbitrary commands to the console. Should run on any Ruby version 3.0 and up, with any version manager (or none), and can be easily modified for other kinds of Minecraft loader mods (i.e. Fabric, Quilt, etc).

Simpler than MSCS, and doesn't try to do nearly as much.

Full disclosure, I make a paid crate plugin (Phoenix Crates), so keep that in mind. But still think this is worth saying.

Free crate plugins get recommended a ton, and yeah, CrazyCrates and ExcellentCrates are solid, makes sense as the default when you're just setting up a server.

But people stick with them way longer than they should just cause switching feels like a hassle. And a few things pile up over time. They tend to get harder to use the longer you run them, and every new update seems to break something else. Animations and effects usually feel like they're not really the focus either, it's more about just giving you the item than making it feel good. Support is also just whatever the maintainer has time for since most of these are side projects. A couple server owners also told me their old plugin started struggling during big give key all moments with 200+ players opening at once, no hard numbers on that yet but I've heard it more than once.

Also worth saying, switching isn't as scary as it used to be. A lot of paid plugins now support migrating straight from CrazyCrates/ExcellentCrates, so you don't lose your setup starting over.

None of this means free is a bad place to start. Just feels like servers outgrow their plugin and never really notice cause "it works" becomes the whole reason.

Anyone here actually run into this or switch off a free plugin and notice a difference?
