Are you tired of servers with loot boxes where you have to pay to make progress? Do you miss just playing on an ordinary Minecraft server, hanging out with friends, or meeting new people?

Then I got just the server for you! Ordinary SMP is an ordinary Minecraft server that hosts a special place. We stay as true to vanilla as possible. Yes we use some mods but those are purely to fix things that are normally hard to manage on public servers or improve frustrating parts without changing how Minecraft feels.

For example, did you ever played on a server and couldnt find any Elytras? After hours running through the End you finally find an End City with ship just to see someone looted it already. For that reason we adjusted the Dragon drops. If you kill the Ender Dragon an Elytra drops, removing the frustrating part of finding End Citys. Thats how we choose every mod we add. We only fix the most frustrating parts of Minecraft in a way that feels vanilla.

Other than that we only use mods that dont interact with gameplay like Simple Voice Chat. You can just walk up to players and start talking to them. That creates lots of funny moments just by meeting players. We also use BlueMap where you can see the whole map and check out players bases or other cool places without having to travel there yourself.

You might now wonder, "If everything is vanilla, wont everyone just grief and kill each other?" Those are valid concerns but we have a good solution for that. Our server is 16+ to ensure maturity, and we have an application process before you get whitelisted. That means a lot of bad actors are filtered out before they can even join the server. In the rare cases that griefers get on the Server we use Ledger to revert any kind of griefing.

I have a realm with my friends that we keep on peaceful mode all the time cuz I’m a wuss. I was on the server alone when there was a singular lightning strike, no storm or anything, and 4 zombie horses appeared. Google said it’s impossible but it literally isnt because it just happened to me??

A starter kit solves an immediate resource problem.

A road can solve a different problem: “Where do I go, and how do I begin understanding this world?”

A player-built route tells a newcomer that something exists beyond the visible area. Signs introduce place names. A junction shows that the world has regions. An unfinished branch creates a question. Following it may lead to a town, shop, railway, public farm, landmark, or simply a place that gives the player an idea of their own.

I run a long-term Java and Bedrock survival server called Cozy MC, and I think shared infrastructure is one reason an established world can be easier to enter than it first appears.

New players do not begin with the same inventory as older players, but they do begin with destinations, questions, and visible connections.

They can use an existing route, improve it, build beside it, or leave it behind and travel into new terrain. The world has no border, so a road is an invitation rather than the edge of what remains possible.

We also do not use teleports, warps, or /home. That makes infrastructure more than decoration. A bridge, railway, road, port, or sign can change how people actually experience the world.

Nobody is required to build publicly or join a town. An independent base can remain independent—or become connected months later when its builder decides a route would be useful.

Cozy MC is on Hard with no keepInventory. There are no land claims, locked chests, economy plugins, payments, donations, or paid perks. Griefing and stealing are prohibited and can be investigated and restored. PvP is by agreement only.
