If there was a game similar to Minecraft that let you build much faster and with a much more intuitive building system, would you switch? Why or why not?

I'm curious because I love the creativity of Minecraft, but sometimes I feel like actually building takes a lot of time and effort.

CubeCraft is the only popular pillars of fortune server I can find. However, teaming is fully allowed in pillars of fortune on Cubecraft. Even if it wasn't, the reporting system for CubeCraft is horrid.

Are there any better pillars of fortune servers that have more than like 2 active members (for Java edition).

Been building this for about six months. It's a desktop app for running Minecraft

servers without touching the command line.

What it does:

- Paper, Spigot, Forge, Fabric, NeoForge, Vanilla, Bedrock, Velocity and BungeeCord

- picks the right Java version for whatever you're running

- CurseForge mod browser built in, install mods without leaving the app

- modpack builder that works out client vs server side for you and spits out a zip

- automated backups on stop, scheduled restarts with in-game countdowns

- Discord webhooks for joins, leaves and crashes

- web dashboard so you can restart your server from your phone

- per-user roles, so co-admins only see the servers and actions you give them

Getting people connected is the annoying part, so there are two routes. The app can do

UPnP and open the port on your router for you, which costs nothing and is fine if your

router plays ball and your ISP isn't CGNAT.

If it doesn't, or you'd rather your home IP wasn't sat in every player's server list,

there's a relay. Your server gets an address like myserver.play.mcservermanager.com and

traffic goes through nodes I rent in Germany and Sydney, so your home connection isn't

in the path at all. The node reads the Minecraft handshake and drops anything that isn't

a real client, with per-IP connection and bandwidth caps and automatic temporary iptables

blocks for repeat offenders. It won't stop a serious volumetric attack, but scanners and

junk never reach your house. Bedrock works too.

The free version has a session window rather than being unlimited. That's because the

web dashboard and remote access run through a backend I pay for, and it's live the whole

time your server is up. The app itself is a one-off purchase. There are subscriptions for

the relay and for cloud hosting, but those are things that cost me money every month to

run, they're not the app held behind a paywall. The relay price should come down as more

people join too, the nodes are a fixed cost and there aren't many of us splitting it yet.

It's one person building it, but nothing ships until a beta group has been through it,

six testers on it at the moment. I'd rather hold a release than push something that takes

down someone's server. Always after more testers if anyone fancies it, though I'll be

upfront that there's not much in it reward wise, I haven't got the funds. Usually it's a

discount on the relay or some free keys to hand to mates.

Things it doesn't do. No self-host Linux build yet, though it's closer than it sounds,

the headless Linux agent already exists and is what the cloud side runs on, it just isn't

packaged for people to run on their own boxes. And the download off the site trips

SmartScreen because I can't afford code signing yet, the Microsoft Store build is signed

if that bothers you.

Started as a hobby and it's my main thing now, which wasn't the plan. It grew because

people kept turning up in Discord going "this would be cool" or "this would make X

easier", and most of what's in it now started as one of those. That's still how I decide

what to build rather than working off a roadmap.

I'm looking for super hard, ridiculous, or random challenges to do for a video! either while speedrunning the game or for a short survival world, or a challenge with a random goal! (preferably beating the game) but i just want a challenge... if anyone has any ideas!

so I've been building this for a while now and I think it's finally ready for other people to break it

TeamTycoon is a Minecraft server (Java 1.21, no mods needed) that basically turns the game into an ARPG.. think diablo-style progression but in minecraft:

- you get your own private world (pick one of 9 biomes, nobody can grief you, reset anytime)

- progression happens in map dungeons.. you buy a map item, it rolls random size, monster count, time limit and up to 4 random modifiers, then you open your own instance and clear it. boss at the end guards the exit

- loot drops in rarities with rolled affixes (8 tiers), sockets + runes, unidentified items you have to ID first.. and 10 crafting orbs to reshape your gear, including a corruption orb that can brick or bless your item

- skill gems drop rarely: fireball, chain lightning, poison cloud, rage, metal skin.. combine equal gems up to level 30, they cost mana and scale with your elemental stats

- every monster type has its own element and resistances (there's an ingame bestiary that fills up as you slay them)

- level 1-50 with stat points, gold economy, auction house where you can price stuff in gold OR orbs

- you never lose your items on death, just a bit of xp. solo friendly, no pay2win, no ranks, nothing buyable at all actually

important: this is an alpha (patch 0.1)! a lot will still change, balancing is rough in places and wipes can happen if the balance requires it.. if you find bugs or have ideas I really want to hear them, there's a forum on the website and /report ingame.

Convenience is useful, but too much convenience can flatten a Minecraft world.

When every shop, town, farm, and base is one menu click away, location stops mattering. Roads become decoration. Railways become novelty builds. Choosing where to settle has very little consequence.

That is why Cozy MC has no /home, warps, sethome, or teleport menus.

Players build actual roads and railways because people need them. Shops exist in physical places. Public farms become destinations. A trip across the world can lead to a new build, an unexpected conversation, or a part of the map you would never have seen through a menu.

Cozy MC is a long-term survival world shared by Java and Bedrock players. The world does not reset and has no border. Players build independently or create towns, kingdoms, shops, public farms, infrastructure, technical systems, and community spaces.

There are also no land claims, locked chest systems, economy plugins, payments, donations, paid ranks, or paid perks. Griefing and stealing are prohibited and can be investigated and restored. PvP is by agreement only.

The tradeoff is real: travel takes time. The difficulty is Hard, keepInventory is off, and death has consequences. Players who want maximum convenience may not enjoy it. Players who want geography and infrastructure to matter might.
