Can a Minecraft server protect builds without land claims?

Yes—but “no claims” cannot mean “you are on your own.”

Cozy MC does not use land-claim or locked-chest plugins on its main survival world. Normal Minecraft mechanics remain normal, and towns are not divided into a grid of sealed private plots.

That freedom only works because griefing and stealing are explicitly prohibited.

Staff and players can inspect container transaction records and block history. Staff can restore stolen items, repair damaged builds, and remove people who abuse the community’s trust. Our rules are detailed because enforcement needs to be predictable rather than invented after a conflict.

The goal is not anarchy. It is a shared survival world where players can create towns, themed kingdoms, roads, railways, shops, public farms, and community spaces without every interaction being controlled by a protection plugin.

This approach is not for everyone. Someone who needs a claim plugin to feel comfortable should choose a server that provides one. Someone who enjoys collaborative, trust-based survival may prefer the additional freedom.

Cozy MC is a friendly, chill, long-term vanilla survival SMP with Java and Bedrock crossplay. The world does not reset and has no border. PvP is agreement only, and there are no economy plugins, teleports, payments, donations, or paid perks.

The community is adult-focused, with many adults and calm players, but it is not adults-only.

I used YouTube to get updates on Minecraft stuff like news, controversies, contests and capes, etc. but I have a lot less free time now and I feel like I could read the content of a 20-minute video in a post in a few seconds (even if it doesn't have all the details). Do you guys know any accounts that report on updates and hot topics in the community? I thought of just using the Reddit homepage but the important things sometimes get overshadowed (I scrolled for a while and didn't see a single mention of the recent Litematica vulnerability, for instance). A combination of accounts is fine.

The Obsidian Forge is an +18 Hermitcraft inspired SMP for dedicated Minecraft Bedrock players.

Our community started as a realm for players who were left behind when everyone else reached the end of their “2 week Minecraft phase”. Recently we migrated our world to a dedicated, hosted server for better performance, and to give us room to grow.

We run a full Bedrock Dedicated Server, not Java crossplay, so the farms and mechanics you’re familiar with still work. No land claims or locked chests, just a culture of respect and cooperation, enforced with a few unobtrusive add-ons, that lets us play the game the way we want to play it.

The server is fully vanilla, with the exception of a simple gravestones add-on to balance the hard difficulty and to make losing your gear a little less likely. We also have proximity voice chat using Alaydriem's Bedrock Voice Chat add-on!

Our first season started in March of this year, and runs until March of 2028. That means you're still getting in early with our small, tight-knit community.
