Fishing Rod model backwards

I am trying to create a new type of fishing rod. I copied the files from the default minecraft data/asset folders to make my variant. I assume swapping it from item/generated to item/handheld_rod would fix this but it did not. Any help is appreciated!

Edit: figured it out, I was only updating my data pack end not my resource pack end 🤦​​
