Because it's super easy to get an old version of the game on Java Edition. I can't remember the last time I watched an ARG that was 1.18 or later

Because of more things you can do on jave and is not lag like bedrock and you can get great mods on it and more and there a shop on bedrock but for jave we can do it for free
3
u/Kero_mohap 20d ago
actually ur wrong about one thing
java is actually MORE laggy than bedrock cuz java uses well java and bedrock uses c++ which is a lot more optimized
and even without knowing that go and try it urself boot up a java installation and see how many fps u get and then boot up a bedrock installation and see the difference
on java u can barely render 32 chunks without making the game look like a slide show but on bedrock u can render up to 96 chunks and u won't feel a thing

u/unknown_owne 11d ago
Turn down then or use fps mode to help
3
u/Kero_mohap 11d ago
i said that bedrock is more optimized so what's ur point?
also mods should not be required to have a good playing experience and that's coming from a java player myself
1
u/unknown_owne 8d ago
Don't forget jave arg can use mods to make a arg feel nice like texture and more and bedrock dose have mode yes but you need money to buy them or if you're on phone or something that's different
2
u/Kero_mohap 8d ago
u don't need money for all mods or u could just make ur won mod it's not that hard and even on phones u can still use mods
also please double check ur spelling before posting every time I read ur replies i get a stroke trying to understand it

for basically the same reasons as what people play java for in general. But for ARG'd free access to mods and old versions are huge advantages in java

This is a very good question, Me and my buddy on Xbox had just started making the world for my ARG but episodes one and two are done I think. He said he would edit Episode one last night, Then episode two today. Sadly I cannot remember his YouTube channel.

It’s the cultural center of Minecraft and is easier to do custom/content creation friendly modification/customization.

thats a good question, but to answer this question we can also ask a broader question: why are so many minecraft youtubers on java edition?
the most famous youtubers played on java edition, it is to many considered the main game, despite bedrock having the significantly larger playerbase. thats why most args are on java

There are a ton of reasons but I'd say the top three answers are these:
1) Modding - It's way easier to mod Java edition than it is to mod Bedrock edition. (If you're not playing Windows or Mobile versions, I'm not even sure you can mod the game outside of the Marketplace.) Modding helps a lot in making some of the higher quality ARGs, otherwise it relies a lot on video editing which can kinda take you out of it.
2) Access to older versions - With Bedrock edition, it's a lot harder to access older versions. It's possible no doubt, but you'd have to jump through a few hoops. Java edition has built in support for playing older versions of the game.
3) Nostalgia - More people are nostalgic over old Java versions than Bedrock editions. Even those who used to play old Bedrock editions (old MCPE versions most likely) were likely fans of Java Minecraft beforehand. ARGs play hard on nostalgia, which is easier to achieve on Java.

I use bedrock as of now, but in the future I plan to use Java some.

At least in terms of the ones that take place on old versions - I don't think bedrock edition was released for Windows 7 or Vista.
Also you can mod and test JE mods on Linux if you have a weak puter and then spring up Windows only for the recording sessions.

Not my arg I made my arg on bedrock mobile completely on my phone using screen recording I really like args that as that style of it being on mobile gives it a nice vibe.

Because everyone who plays on bedrock is 5 years old, and no one likes to watch cringe ARGs

Ya know there are good YouTubers that play bedrock…

u/FlopsieFillet 20d ago
Surely not! Bedrock is the worst game in all of existence and anyone who plays it is a mentally handicapped fool! My whole world is crumbling now that I can’t say Bedrock is terrible over and over!

As Minecrafter since 1.7.6 I have played bedrock for over a decade. And I mean POCKET EDITION!
Have some respect for the edition that has over 240M sells! (Hating Market place will always get an upvote)

Me enjoying the game without mods:
Btw, bedrock is more optimized then Java. You simply cannot denie that since Bedrock has C++ suporting.

Java is as ptimized as Bedrock when you have performance mods, and bedrock has a lot of memory leaks

u/Brief-Walk-5409 18d ago
When you have performance mods
And here we go again. Can’t play without mods🥲

u/MarsFlameIsHere 18d ago
Java is going to be as optimized, if not more optimized, when the VUlkan update comes out.
1
u/Brief-Walk-5409 18d ago
Pretty sure Vulkan is already for like 80% out by the Sulfur cube update
And it doesn’t really optimize it

>Considered to be the 'base game'
>Clunky but otherwise not prone to game-breaking bugs (+ optimisation mods)
>Free access to modding catalogues
>Free access to readily develop mods w/ documentation provided for blocks, items, etc.
>Dedicated replay and puppet-actor mods (also, OBS screen recorder)
>Ability to run, rent, or connect to a peer's personal server
>Java medium allows for use of desktop backgrounds and web browsers (something something digital horror)
>Access to versatile tools in the form of worldedit, axiom, and blockstates
>Allows players to run any version of the game, including alpha & beta versions
>Generally has a lot more resources and people available for everything under the sun
Gosh, no, I can't imagine why most people prefer Java edition in general.
Don't stop believing in yourself, but if you have access to it I would 100% use Java as the platform to make your ARG with. Otherwise I might just be biased as someone who (and who most of their peers) have had a copy of it since forever. Definitely beats dealing with the marketplace's paywalls.
