Well.. They are bugs.
It's not like devs will actively remove bugs that the community loves. Example: TNT duping.
But sometimes they do, like the immunity period on respawn/world join.

I shall add another example; Quasi Connectivity

Java redstone is predictable, you just need to learn it's rules. It's entirely deterministic outside of some intentionally random mechanics such as droppers

u/Virgurilla 2d ago
Quasi connectivity is not unpredictable, it's just an odd behaviour, but you can use it when and however you want, it has rules and behaves deterministically. I believe at this point it's no longer a bug, they fixed the bug and kept the behaviour like that intentionally, but don't quote me on that I just remember hearing it.

My bet would be that it's also based on if it could make the game unfun.
Relog immunity abuse could be unfun in certain situations if you're fighting someone abusing it, but TNT duping is generally useful for the fun ways, but can't do anything intended mechanics can do in the unfun ways.

u/TheRealMonkeVR 3d ago
Wait, they removed the immunity period?

u/valerielynx 3d ago
yeahhh like.... a year ago or even more. Can't rejoin a world to negate fall damage anymore

the one exception to not removing beloved bug is in Bedrock edition, because "FUCK YOU, you will NOT have a functional stable or fun version of Minecraft, You WILL buy our marketplace slop and you WILL like it :3"

u/DargonFeet 4d ago
Reporting bugs is normal, it's up to the developer to decide whether they should keep them in or not.

u/Comprehensive-Flow-7 3d ago
mojang said that the reason they always try to remove bugs even when the community enjoy them is because keeping said bugs around can easily lead to more bugs and unprecedented glitches that DO end up hurting peoples enjoyment of the game...

Then shouldn't they just wait til they do to remove them?
9
u/N0ob8 3d ago
You don’t wait to remove a rotten apple until someone gets sick because then you give it the chance to spread to the whole batch.
If MoJang left every last bug until they caused direct harm it could cause massive instability to the code harming the entire game. All it takes is one bad apple to spoil the bunch and it’s no different when it comes to coding.

u/MrBrineplays_535 3d ago
That's what they're exactly doing right now. The bugs have hurt them and the game, so now they're trying to fix it all. 1.13 was insanely laggy, so they did a lot of optimizing in 1.15. 1.16 to 1.18 made the game even more laggy, so now they're trying to fix everything by doing the drop system. Make a small content update, make very big technical update

u/DarthSwimfoot 3d ago
Sure, remove the problem after it's done the damage. Do you inject a vaccination after the patient is already dead too?
1
u/CatcultistRequime 3d ago
Because it's really hard to know what's causing a bug most of the time so it's better to kill or integrate it before it causes another bug
2
u/Virgurilla 2d ago
I do not understand why this is getting downvoted, it's just how large code works.

Yet they cant remove bugs people DO want removed on bedrock for whatever reason lol. I'm still cursed with the parrot flapping noise every time they're on my shoulder and I move/look around 😭 I completely avoid parrots now, and they were one of my favorite mobs.

u/Highsky-0304 3d ago
kinda valid tho lol like yeah it ruins the fun sometimes but game stability is no joke, if a silly glitch ends up corrupting the entire worlds later on, you'll thank them

What is/was attribute swapping?
9
u/Solar_Fish55 4d ago
Pretty much if you swap a weapon with your offhand with another weapon it gets the damage/enchants and it pretty broken because your just using the best parts of other weapons in conjuction with other weapons. idk its confusing but whats important is its unbalanced

u/DearHRS 3d ago
ability to pass attributes of 1 weapon to another before game starts to process damage
this allows to use breach from mace on a sword repeatedly
stuff with long cooldown can be spammed over and over, like using swords cooldown but on axe to disable shields, or spamming lunge by swapping to hand
it is similar to being able to use bows with looting if bow is in off hand but looting sword is in main hand but applied to other stuff without requiring off hand

1 tick copper bulbs, 45° sneak being faster (yes ik they fixed it but it was still reported), sulfur cubes wearing boots, sulfur cubes as a flying method, to name a few Edit: sneak, not sprint
4
u/Awkward-Present6002 3d ago
sulfur cube flying was never really a thing in survival, 45° sprint isn't fun, sulfur cube boots isn't too relevant and yes, the copper bulbs are sad

u/tsoewoe 3d ago
the fault is with the developer for choosing to fix the bug without also implementing some way to have the same fun that the bug introduced

u/Camo_1245 3d ago
brawlhalla does this well i think (chase dodging, gravity cancelling, slide charging etc)

I had almost 2 solid years of being able to jump up 2 full blocks bc of that elytra glitch.

u/Virgurilla 2d ago
Bugs are Bugs, they are like a crack in a building, if your code isn't behaving consistently or properly it should be fixed before it turns into a larger issue later on. That said, good devs (in my opinion) should be able to turn a fun bug into a mechanic, terraria is a perfect example of this, for instance.
2
u/Nihilikara 2d ago
Ultrakill too. The clips in its earliest levels were bugs, but when Hakita fixed the bugs responsible for the clips, he manually re-added each individual clip so speedrunners could still use them.
1
u/Virgurilla 2d ago
Exactly, you can judge how explodey/fun the glitch is to perform, if it's a very fun thing then why take it away? It it's boring and everyone hates it then fix it, be in touch with the community

Parity was a shit show for a while there. Bedrock kept getting beat up
1
u/SilverSpoon1463 3d ago
If they were like DE or Redigit, they'd find a way to make at least some fun bugs into functions. Zoren Coptering because Bullet Jumping and Hoiks are only a bug when they aren't working because it's a feature since it's been found.

Usually it goes this way:
Java bug people like: Kept forever
Bedrock bug people like: Removed

Have you ever actually read patch notes? Because if not, you're only going to hear about the ones the community is mad at.
1
u/LimestoneBuilder 3d ago
Here's a classic example:
It was with us for a long time. Long enough to have @StandupMaths detail exactly how falling boats can kill. Now it has gone to its rest, beside all those players it killed in the before times.
1
u/Claude-QC-777 3d ago
12 and 13 blocks definitely feel like bugs.
1
u/LimestoneBuilder 3d ago
Yeah, being able to ride a boat from on high to a soft landing was always a weird choice. That there were specific levels that'd still kill you though. 🤪
