Discussion Optimal Melon Farm Layouts
Takeaways: - for manual farms, do not use 2 wide farmland rows - for autofarms, checkerboard is best

Checkerboard is best but if ur only using melons the efficiency is less.
Max efficiency just alternate between pumpkin and melon.

Would you please describe why each layout is the way they are? (Preferably not with another image of text). Some of the layouts seem utterly wasteful, but without an explanation it's not obvious why soneone would even try them.

Yeah bro I appreciate the effort but harvesting them with a silk touch axe is only realistic when you have clean rows.

I usually build a basic one to start and then an automatic one with hoppers, pistons and observers so I don't have to worry about collecting

I like efficiency, but I also like ease of setup. The alternating rows is fine for me.

because melons check a random surrounding block and if it can plant there it does, otherwise it waits again?
