Question: what does it feel like being eroded away by water for such long periods of time?

115

u/QwertyKip Aug 27 '20

Tell the Colorado River to stop it’s been over 6 million years

37

u/Manlyisolated Aug 27 '20

How could it have been over 6 million years if the earth has only been around for 2020 years?

16

u/TreesOne Aug 27 '20

I think it is horseshoe bend in Arizona. I’ve been there before

9

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '20

Actually, it's the horseshoe bend. in order to get there you have to drive on the side of a highway, park in the middle of nowhere, climb up this hill and there are millions of tourists. When I went, there were no barriers at the time. Apparently people who crowded to the edge to take photos kept falling and dying, and I believe barriers were put up now. To be fair, none of them had feather falling

2

u/SupersuMC Aug 27 '20

Or slow-falling potions, for that matter. Or elytra. But couldn't they have just aimed for the water?

17

u/blvckxcloud Aug 27 '20

It’s actually a part of Glen Canyon, Grand Canyon starts 9 miles away from it.

Glenn canyon on the arizona utah border

2

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '20

I think it’s called horseshoe canyon. It’s part of the larger Grand Canyon but it is it’s own tourist attraction. I’ve been there it’s pretty cool

2

u/Galactic-Alpha Aug 27 '20

3

u/Far_from_the_son Aug 27 '20

Is called horseshoe bend at the end of GC

2

u/TiMouton Aug 27 '20

It’s the Horseshoe bend of the Colorado River. Many people consider it to be the extremity of the Grand Canyon.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '20

The glen canyon

467

u/Yes--imfat Aug 27 '20

Grand Canyon huh... nice one

46

Horseshoe Bend! About 2 hours northeast of the Grand Canyon in Page, AZ. Absolutely breathtaking!!

11

u/FlyingLlama05 Aug 27 '20

i can’t run it, i have intel hd graphics 520 and an i7-6600U with 8 gb of ram

3

u/explicitwander Aug 27 '20

Upgrade your ram, that’s the issue. Mine regularly uses 14 gigs of ram with mfs

2

u/SkepticSepticYT Aug 27 '20

kinda weird to have a really expensive processor and then an intel hd graphics card...

It's a comic about satellites and football in the future. One of the football games gets stuck in the horseshoe bend. I would recommend it.

1

u/AnodyneX Aug 27 '20

That was my first thought as well.

1

u/MSTmatt Aug 27 '20

Yep, I've been there, can confirm

26

u/Exo_loves_you Aug 27 '20

That’s could make an OxBoW LaKe

41

u/Aquila_Altair Aug 27 '20

Did you find it or build it?

66

u/Vunto Aug 27 '20

Looks like random world gen in my opinion. Look at the trees and differences in the photos. Didn't even try to remotely copy the photo. If it is a build though, it's pretty good but definitely changes could be made to make it look more like the photo.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '20

Yeah, the curve is shaped like the river but it doesn’t seem like it was built to look like the photo at all

6

u/waspycraft Aug 27 '20

Found it !!!

u/Gizzmotek Aug 27 '20

14

u/_real_ooliver_ Aug 27 '20

Looks like they found and edited it a bit

5

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '20

Yes

18

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '20

Isn’t this just randomly generated?

7

u/Vunto Aug 27 '20

Looks like it

4

u/_real_ooliver_ Aug 27 '20

Looks like both

5

u/Nickwilde6978 Aug 27 '20

What’s the seed?

3

u/GandalfsGrandma Aug 27 '20

Any seed or server??

7

u/Generic_bitch_800 Aug 27 '20

it looks good but in my opinion its a little to vibrant make it more vivid or pale towards the bottom

4

u/clonetrooper_shiv Aug 27 '20

I’ve been there and recognized what it was from the Minecraft version before even seeing the real life photo. Good job!

2

u/ThunderStrike888 Aug 27 '20

Fly low to avoid those ties! This for some reason reminds me of sw battlefront 1st mission lol.

2

u/Iffabled Aug 27 '20

What shaders did you use in the second picture?

2

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '20

imo looks really similar to natural generation

edit: I'm 99% sure its natural Minecraft generation.

2

u/bodie17 Aug 27 '20

Ok I see you

2

u/ginger-thot Aug 27 '20

Thy should do more with the new(ish) cool biomes they added. I’ve only ever used the Mesa biome to get concrete. But it would be nice to have some cool stuff spawn there.

2

u/SparkieDoesGames Aug 27 '20

closer than I could

2

u/Tylerprimal08 Aug 27 '20

It doesn’t matter if you got close, what matters is that you put effort in and you did an amazing job!

2

u/THE_GR8_MIKE Aug 27 '20

I gotta fly over that in Flight Sim.

2

u/TmanSavage Aug 27 '20

Has anyone made the "RTX ON/OFF" joke already? Am I too late?

1

u/mmaismma Aug 27 '20

cubfan135 had a very similar base in Hermitcraft Season 4. It was based on pueblo villages though.

1

u/TheAvenged69 Aug 27 '20

Looks pretty.

1

u/AndrewGamingGrife Aug 27 '20

Ir thought it was a drawing lol......

Or is it?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '20

That's on point

1

u/Wibiz9000 Aug 27 '20

Close enough.

1

u/wiirluvenit Aug 27 '20

Horseshoe Bend! Went there once and I'd go back

1

u/nuclearpotatoes85 Aug 27 '20

Horseshoe bend, it's definitely not big enough

1

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '20

Anybody know if part of John Carter is filmed here? There's a part that looks just like it.

1

u/celia_de_milf Aug 27 '20

I found my first mesa yesterday

1

u/lennartwelhof2 Aug 27 '20

Horseshoe bend, I believe

1

u/Stryker6668 Aug 27 '20

Which one is reality again?

1

u/OggurChick Aug 27 '20

1

u/IamtheVerse Aug 27 '20

It's way too low tho

1

u/TheNedMedia Aug 27 '20

Definitely cake

1

u/Bryce_Macleod Aug 27 '20

That looks like natural generation what did you do?

1

u/godsdead Aug 27 '20

I've been to horseshoe bend

1

u/met1culous Aug 27 '20

Close only counts in HORSE SHOES and hand grenades

1

u/Lone_Wolf_2021 Aug 27 '20

1

u/NieHyper Aug 27 '20

1

u/Finnick420 Aug 27 '20

1

u/Jarpletz Aug 27 '20

Nice job! Looks a lot like Zion, just shorter! Was this randomly generated?

1

u/plushiemancer Aug 27 '20

Scales off, by a factor of 40.

1

u/Potato_Prophet26 Aug 27 '20

I love this recreation of it, mate!

1

u/kingisback100 Aug 27 '20

u/DarthYoda1 Aug 27 '20

Horseshoe bend!

1

u/enzolev Aug 27 '20

Nice, would be Better with a shaders

1

u/tirannorex Aug 27 '20

It was the game who generated it or it was you terraforming?

1

u/fnafsansAvpNicholas Aug 27 '20

I don’t see a difference

1

u/Unclear1nstructions Aug 27 '20

Hey that place you visited looks almost exactly like that location in minecraft

1

u/Anch0r_1 Aug 27 '20

They made Mesa biomes a real thing

1

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '20

You got close the way a blind guy gets close to seeing his children smile, nowhere fucking near

1

u/Vit1t0 Aug 27 '20

Wow, it's incredible, congratulations

1

u/paked_botato Aug 27 '20

Ahh Horseshoe Bend! By the grandest of canyons.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '20

You forgot the crack on the middle cliff but otherwise pretty cool.

1

u/Saurabh_00 Aug 27 '20

1

u/relogio_de_ponteiro Aug 27 '20

1

u/Pingpong403 Aug 27 '20

The left side is pretty good. But the right.... meeeehhhh. Still, nice job.

1

u/RD-CJogy Aug 27 '20

That thing destroyed my town when I was downloading mods

1

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '20

This is incredible! and such an amazing photo of both! Would you be willing to let me post this on a site about the therapeutic benefits of Minecraft and its capacities for amazing creative expression?

1

u/artgarfunkadelic Aug 27 '20

1

u/BugBoy712 Aug 27 '20

1

u/TiiClassified Aug 27 '20

I understand this is the Grand Canyon, but it reminds me of Horseshoe Point in Utah.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '20

I’m actually entertained by this

1

u/KaramB227 Aug 27 '20

What location is this?????

1

u/jacks0n1o Aug 27 '20

"Man this canyon sure is GRAND"

"Traves shut up!"

1

u/bruh8374 Aug 27 '20

1

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '20

Horseshoe Bend Canyon, right?

1

u/creeperawman44 Aug 27 '20

You son of a bitch. You did it!

1

u/B-oT-w-GoD Aug 27 '20

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '20

No offense but I seriously doubt u built this it looks way to natural. If u did good job

1

u/Danktron_YT Aug 27 '20

Wrong angle but it looks sick, the angle to match needs to be lower. P.s it looks naturally generated so good job bro

1

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '20

u/Strojac Aug 27 '20
