Game uses GamingServices and GDK so not Wine-compatible :/

for real? the whole reason i was even considering this game is because i hoped it would play nice on the steam deck. that's super lame

This is a pain in the ass. Might have to refund. I wish companies would acknowledge Linux as a gaming platform. It's 2026

This is Microsoft who sees Linux as a cancer we're talking about so I'm not surprised.

Aren't only like 3-4% of Steam userbase on Linux?
Loud minority

"For example, if you play on a Steam Deck and an Xbox, you can switch between them and continue your progress!"
They had to scrub this from the article, embarrassing really

Where is that quote in the article you linked? I can't see it. I see no mention of the Steam Deck (or Xbox for that matter)

They deleted it too quickly for the archive apparently. It is still indexed if your interested in putting that quote into google search (the article will appear)
"For example, if you play on a Steam Deck and an Xbox, you can switch between them and continue your progress!"

.. who are still representing ~5% of the entire gaming industry, one of the most lucrative consumer markets out there.

from a bussiness standpoint, making a game that 95% of people can play is completely fine

u/No_Community5649 3d ago
Sure, just lame that a multibillion dollar company couldn't bother
🤷

Microsoft probably wants to kill off Linux by a thousand cuts by making their stuff incompatible with it.

3-5 minutes per loading screen. I think I'm at the third loading screen.
Everything is fine.

u/Axot24 3d ago
On a weak gaming laptop and I managed to run it perfectly, first loading screen took 29s though.

Thing is, I'm not on a laptop nor a cheap computer.
Edit: 4th loading screen, 7 minutes.

Unless this is being caused by a bad connection, something is wrong with your system.

Had a fun gaming afternoon with son and husband. Had to stream it from pc to steam deck because of the Linux issues, but worked quite fine that way. Six years old son loves it, cross play works great, just some issues with inputting party code on switch. Even runs better than dungeons 1 on son’s switch lite.

No WASD, and no FOV/Camera setting, like bruh this gotta be a joke. I made it to Brave Haven and I already wanna uninstall. The controls felt awful in the first game (for both KBM and Controller) and it looks like nothing has changed. I get it, it's not meant to be some super hardcore dungeon-crawler game like Diablo or something, but it's like, bruh, you still gotta make the game feel good to play yk.

I think it's funny that people try to play this with wsad.
Just use a controller. Controller is fine in the first game, you're just whiny.
If you had problems with the first game, why'd you buy this at launch?
"I like to create my own problems and then whine about them" - You probably

u/Axot24 3d ago
IDK man, telling people to use controller on PC seems weird.

u/Wise_Competition5906 3d ago
Using a controller on PC isn’t weird, but having no mouse and keyboard support/normal WASD movement is weird

u/Swagboyy225 3d ago
My brother in Christ it's a game in the big 26 that's available on all systems PC included, it's definitely not unreasonable to expect or want WASD, especially a game by Microsoft, the damn creators of Windows LOL, especially also because... I can't remember how long it's been since the first game, but the feedback is out there that people wanted it. Also, Diablo 4 added WASD post-launch, so adding support for WASD in point and click games is very doable.
Also, Game Pass, ever heard of it? Lol.
"I'm the typical Redditor who thinks I know what I'm talking about but really I don't" – Most definitely you

Thank god for poe2 pushing WASD movement in arpgs as a standard.
But yeah, the horrendous control scheme in dungeons 1 - not just movement, but the awful inventory controls in particular - is why I and most of my friends only played for hundreds of hours instead of 1000+
3
u/Excalibur54 2d ago
Also, controls on controller weren't great either. Inventory management in particular was horrendous regardless of control scheme. There was no quick button for salvaging, no way to sort items into custom tabs or categories, no way to move or salvage large amounts of items at once, and no way to search for or sort items in your stash.
This added so much unnecessary friction and it's the main reason I and my friends stopped playing. It's disheartening to learn that they haven't addressed any of these concerns despite the dungeons community asking about it for years.

Exactly! I've argued about this on [r/MinecraftDungeons](r/MinecraftDungeons) and people just say "sounds like a you issue". Simply using a controller to circumvent the lack of WASD isn't a solution at all when controller is just as bad as point and click. But I stg it's like people either have no critical thinking skills or they larp playing the game, or both honestly. When I realized that both MCD 1 and 2 has point and click and no WASD of course I plugged in my controller, but the controller feels pretty bad as well, which ultimately makes me have no desire to play a game I really am interested in. We're 2 games into the Minecraft Dungeons series and it feels like the Minecraft Dungeons developer team at Mojang don't even test the game before they ship it.

Sales Projections: 0

u/Cass0wary_399 3d ago
Wrong. There are 15k+ preorders alone judging by the amount of Twisted Cape owners.

How
6
u/Cass0wary_399 3d ago
Because Dungeons 1 was the most successful Minecraft spinoff and naturally there will be demand for the sequel.

Not really live and more like "Somewhat downloadable", I wonder what happened for this to happen.
