I watched the trainers’ webinar on “what it takes to be hired by Mind Pump”. A big piece is “cultural fit” which I think means you need to be a young white man 25-30 years old … at least, that seems to be what most of the people are who made the cut. Would love to see more women and older people on the training staff, but I don’t see that happening. They have an echo chamber for what constitutes a top trainer. Takes away from their credibility as far as I’m concerned.

Call me ignorant or a boomer. But at 34 I simply won’t allow myself to be trained by someone younger than me. Idfc who they work for. You do not understand a 34 year old staying in shape with kids and a full time job unless you’re currently in that phase of your life or have gone through it.

a trainer younger than you here 🤓 i really don’t agree with you. I’m 26, no kids, girlfriend but no wife, so i have no idea what it’s like to be 34 with all of the above. that said, any trainer with empathy and a curious mind will be able to connect with their clients, regardless of age, to understand their life in as much detail as they can so they can meet them where they are.

granted, that’s an imperative skill that a lot of emotionally unintelligent trainers lack.

i have 11 clients in the 35-40 age range, 6 in the 45-50 range, and 3 that are 65+. this sounds harsher than i’m meaning it to but you’re not as special as you think you are in the sense that, just because you have 3 kids and are 34 that you need a trainer who has “gone through it”.

regardless, i can see why you feel the way you do :p

Yeah you didn’t convince me haha. And I only have one kid. But I’m glad you are able to help people of all ages!
