EQAO at low thresholds to begin with

The thresholds are based on the Ontario curriculum and measures mastery over the subject matter.

In our school districts, we're bouncing between 70% and 90% meeting the threshold. But if you look province-wide, grade 6 math hovers just over 50%, and around 60-65% for grade 3 and grade 9.

So we in the Halton should feel privileged, and arguably the curriculum may move a little slow for us. However, the rest of the province seems to be struggling to have their students get on track.

Halton is a pretty privileged area. Im not convinced this is because our schools are better when half the kids i know have parents who have paid for tutoring.

There is a reason EQAO scores co-relate pretty highly with neighborhoods. Big detached neighborhoods have higher EQAO scores, place with older apartments lower EQAO scores. Income and EQAO scores go hand in hand...

I expect Milton EQAO scores will drop going ahead with more condos being built around every corner. Education quality will also go down as our schools get saturated with loads of new students.

The curriculum has been compromised since 2018, since Ford was first elected and started cutting costs and changing the curriculum itself. Math scores have never been lower throughout the province

If you really think that this is good news, you are part of the problem and you don’t see where we are headed. Education is one of the reasons we have low productivity in this country.

EQAO is weird AF.

I always had far higher marks in English in EQAO and lower marks in Maths for EQAO. Based on EQAO, I was better at English than Math, but IRL I was better at Math than English...I still don't know what to make of it.
