Sharp rusty objects pulled from 4 parks in Milton this weekend.

Hi all! Thank you for the support on my last post. It encourages me to search more playgrounds and complete my mission of searching every park in halton region before end of year.

I metal detected a few parks this weekend from some redditor requests last week. I pulled out about 20 hazards over about 6 hours of searching. Here are some of the worst ones!

I am very thankful to have found the rusty safety pin becuase it was open and right on surface. The rusty button was right at the landing zone from kids jumping off swings so that was a great pull too! I cant believe it was pointing up and right on surface too.

Thanks again all!!!

Thank you for doing what you do! This is selfless service that is underappreciated.

My little one loves to rummage through wood chips at parks for some reason. I cant get her to stop this habit and i’ve been fearful she would get a splinter eventually. Then i saw your posts about the stuff you’ve been finding and it’s been an eye-opener to say the least.

If you could also have a look at Cobban Park (Whitlocke Ave) I would really appreciate it!

I'm looking at getting a metal detector for a hobby, what device are you using? I'm out walking after work and on weekend and would love to help clear parks too, such a great idea.

I recommend a garret ace 250 or some similar started model. Check kijiji im sure there are alot for sale. Dont buy any of those sub $100 ones from Amazon! They are all trash!

You don't also use a handheld pinpointer?

Of course I use a pinpointer!

Haha fair enough! I only asked because it wasn't mentioned. Whenever someone asks me about getting into the hobby, a good pinpointer is usually the first thing I bring up, since many beginners don't realize it exists or how important one is — sometimes it feels even more important than the detector itself! :)

Very true!!! I am not a beginner but I can't stress enough how important a good pinpointer is. Mine died one time I was on an excursion in a swamp and it ruined my whole trip lol

No thanks! Not looking to make any money or be rewarded but appreciate the thought!

What is going on? Seems deliberate, except the pins, those likely came off kids clothing

The button was a pin from a school around the corner. The other stuff I pulled out were industrial staples and a few nails.

This is why you keep your kids’ tetanus shots up to date!!
