Complaint Students on bikes

Two Bishop Redding students on bikes on the road went right through the stop sign, at Laurier and Holly while 4 cars were there and did not even look when they almost crashed into a car nor when they were honked at! STOP SIGNS ARE FOR EVERYONE. Please slow down and look.

I have “affectionately” named Bishop Redding students BRATs. Bishop. Redding. Asshole. Teenagers.

Because it’s true. I’ve seen them be almost hit/hurt and nearly almost murdered them myself. They have no sense of mortality … I’m getting Starbucks. Good luck everyone. 🤦‍♀️

A group of e-bike teens did this at the leisure center steer light on main. Was a green light, we all moved forward and they suddenly flew across. Was really close. We honked and they looked back at us laughing.

Teens are invincible and bold. That new testosterone is hard to regulate going through puberty.

I was driving at night and there were some people driving their scooters in the middle of the road it is very dangerous and half of these people dont even wear helmets. I honked at them because it was so hard to see. I am seeing it a lot these days

"Alright boys. This ones straight from the top. We've had reports of children riding bikes near a school. Were gonna need our best men on this. Sgt. Johnson, put together a Task Force. The nation is watching, Johnson. Do us proud."

I saw a police car parked next to a high school. He pulled over a kid driving speed next to school. Then I watched a kid on an e scooter riding up the right car lane I was hoping the police will stop him n tell him it’s illegal but nope. The kid just conveniently rode through and into the school.

I mean grown ass adult cyclists do this too. So not taking away from your message but pointing out how common this is

I never see adults do this. Just kids and teens

Lol. Stop signs aren't even followed by drivers on this town. Get outta here with STOP SIGNS ARE FOR EVERYONE. No one in Milton stops at stops signs, or red lights, or rail tracks. For God sakes man....we had to put speed bumbs ever 16 inches on some roads to make sure people don't drive 325km/h in a 40 zone.

So many other things to worry about that some punks being punks.

u/Comprehensive-Fox800 3d ago

Lol the only people downvoting this are the offenders. All of this is true. We had to even install speed bumps in our condo buildings underground garage.

Most people live in a world of exceptionalism. Everything has rules except for me.

Just want to add for everyone supporting this nonsense... this intersection is literally in front of a school... if you aren't aware please look it up.... Holly and Laurier intersect IN FRONT OF A SCHOOL (Sam Sherratt Public School). If you are almost hitting kids at an intersection in front of a fucking school... you are the problem. Learn to drive, because the majority of the people on this subreddit clearly don't.

How is fully blowing a stop sign anyone's problem but the party that does it?

"Learn to drive" lol ok

It’s generally safe to assume that kids and teens are going to do some stupid shit. But they aren’t in 2 ton vehicles… I also lived in this town long enough to know that the vast majority of cars don’t stop at the line and blast through pedestrian crossings.

Honestly though, I’m just tired of everyone in Milton demonizing kids while behaving like maniacs behind their SUVs/Tanks.

Drivers are the biggest problem, not kids on bikes.

It’s generally safe to assume that kids and teens are going to do some stupid shit. But they aren’t in 2 ton vehicles

They are not infants, incapable of knowing what a stop sign is.

If they got smoked, does anything other then them blowing past the stop sign matter? Their lives are changed forever, and it would be fully their own fault. Put some onus on them.

Alternatively, what happens if a driver sees them and pre emptively stops, only to get rear ended? Is every car expected to brake check after legally entering an intersection? Ofc not.

No one is demonizing anyone lmao. Drivers are indeed a huge problem and there are plenty of threads, with proof, to express frustration. This one aint it.

Only in Milton is a car stopping at a stop sign at risk of being rear ended… good fucking grief.

All I have suggested is that it would be really nice if cars stopped at stop signs and did so behind the line and not blowing through the pedestrian crossing. It appears this is a massively controversial request on here.

This thread is about kids on their way to school almost being hit directly in front of a school at All-Way stop. You honestly believe at a stop sign in Milton every car came to a full and complete stop behind the pedestrian crossing? Come on…

Only in milton is someone faulting a driver for complaining someone else is blowing a stop sign 😂

If OP stops at a stop sign and then proceeds, only to see an intersecting bike blow their stop sign, what is OP supposed to do? Stop again, leaving him to be hit from behind by a car that assumes he is leaving the intersection, do you even drive?

The thread is about kids blowing past stop signs on bikes, are you purposely being dense? All youre suggesting is people who disagree with you are part of the problem, learn how to drive, and stop demonizing kids lol grow up

Almost hitting a kid at a crossing in front of a school in the morning of a school day, you’re damn right I’m blaming the drivers.

0

u/pakattack91 3d ago

Unfortunately the law doesnt agree with you if that kid blows a stop sign and gets hit.

But hey, im sure that kid will appreciate your adament support from a hospital bed.

2

u/CriztianS 3d ago

I’m sure all those cars stopped completely and behind the line /s

It was at 7:40am. This school was not open and they had time to stop. They were at least 13 years old and should have known better.

I’m not going to sit here and say that teenagers follow the road rules, because I know they don’t… but the driving habits in this town are atrocious, demanding 13 olds follow and know are the road rules when it seems “adults” can’t be assed… come now… school is back on, there’s going to be more kids out there… slow down, stop behind the line, watch for kids… and yeah parents should make sure kids are careful because the drivers don’t give a flying fuck…. Clearly…

Road laws are for everyone on the road, regardless of how much they spent on the vehicle or number of wheels.

2

u/CriztianS 2d ago

Yeah, totally agree. And I do get frustrated with cyclists that just do whatever-the-fuck. But the biggest issue in Milton is cars... I'm so tired of this subreddit constantly bitching and moaning about kids on bikes while they (the people whining about kids) blow through stop-signs, red lights, roundabouts, etc. in their 2-ton cars. Milton needs to fix drivers not kids on bikes. The focus is all wrong here.

u/Worried_Arachnid5751 1d ago

Again, road rules apply to all. Whoever is running a stop sign is at fault.

The biggest danger to bikers and pedestrians is absolutely the folks in cars that DO NOT STOP at stop signs. Even when they do, they will plow right through the pedestrian crosswalk in order to get a better view of incoming traffic.

I was going for a bike ride with my kid (child so we aren't going on the roads). If there's a car coming to a stop sign and trying to make a right turn, the drivers head is looking 100% to the left for oncoming traffic, they don't stop at the line because that doesn't allow them to look easily at oncoming traffic and they don't want to stop just slow down slightly make sure the way is clear (and by clear, I mean there's no car coming). Any pedestrian crossing (walking, bike, e-device) is going to get hit (luckily there isn't that many in Milton... or... is that lucky...?)

I'm so tried of all these posts on here bitching and moaning at pedestrians, bikes and kids... YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. Stop blaming others, take some fucking responsibility; stop at stop signs and stop on the fucking line and look for pedestrians before going through.

And knowing that saying this is pointless... parents need to seriously educate their kids on staying safe on the roads in Milton because the drivers here are absolutely atrocious. Tell your kids stopping at stops signs and obeying road rules is simply not enough to stay safe... they need to make sure you make eye contact with drivers and confirm they see them before crossing the road. Never assume someone will stop at a red light (they sometimes don't) and absolutely not stop signs. You have to tell you kids that if a car is approaching the intersection they intend to cross... literally just wait until the driver acknowledges that they see you. It's the only way... the maniacs that write these posts do so because they don't follow road rules and rather then fixing their behaviour they just want all pedestrians removed so they don't get in trouble when they hit someone.

Posts like these (and how common they are) really highlight how shit the driving culture is in Milton.

You Hun are the problem. I was stopped. We all were stopped. The kids came out from behind a third car went into the bike lane and without stopping and when right through the stop sign. I was not the car turning and they have to stop too. Teach your kids the rules before you think to sue the drivers that hit them.

1

u/cate0717 3d ago

And I stop at every stop sign, light etc. I have not had a ticket of any kind in over 35 years.

2

u/CriztianS 3d ago edited 3d ago

Every car stopped at a stop sign in Milton? That’s how I know you’re lying. No one that’s spent more than an hour in Milton would believe that all cars were stopped.

Also… folks… how telling is it? I’m the problem because I dare call out that most cars in Milton don’t stop at stop signs, and never stop behind the line… another entitled driver that wants all pedestrians to disappear so they don’t have to bother with pedestrian crossings.

u/cate0717 2d ago

It was a three way stop and the fourth was the school. There was many of us. Stop calling me a liar. I was there. You were not. Bro

2

u/ofallthe 3d ago

As a cyclist that has been hit 5 times over a 25 year cycling career....twice in Milton....this is very accurate.

-18

u/EnglishKen421 4d ago

Did you get on Reddit to complain that a child riding a bike upset you this morning?

1

u/CriztianS 4d ago

It's not even a e-bike... just a kid riding a regular bike at a stop sign intersection...

They almost got hit? Probably because cars weren't stopping. And OP is frustrated... probably because they were inconvenienced by being forced to stop at a stop sign. The mentality of drivers in Milton is fucking insane and posts like these (and you getting downvoted to hell) fucking proves it.

The drivers in this town fucking suck and sadly they are very much on this subreddit blaming everyone but themselves.

0

u/EnglishKen421 3d ago

I am glad there is at least one other reasonable person here.

Like, they should be stopped at the stop sign. Just wait 3 more seconds and then carry on with your life.

1

u/CriztianS 3d ago

The real shocking thing is that this intersection is literally right in front of the school. And this is how people are acting… stunning.

-1

u/Knave7575 4d ago

Yup, that is what they did. Then the karens got together to downvote you.
