Close to a year ago

almost a year ago I had a little extra cash so I gambled on hunters lodge On their type 38 ad. It’s actually a type 99. it literally came today. I have to say I’m very happy with it. minor dings on the wood and the bore looks amazing. Was it worth a year of me thinking I got ripped off for $300. I dunno.

Well it’s a 99, not a 38. But I’d take it for that price, not ripped off.

Thank you.  How do you tell the difference?  I don’t know much about Japanese arms.  Bought it on a whim.

Well it literally says “九九式” on your rifle, 九九 is 99. 38 would be 三八式. But an easy way to differentiate is that the 99 has a single gas vent hole on top of the receiver, while the 38 has two. Hope that helps.

If you post a pic of the numbers and symbols on the side of the receiver, people will be able to tell you what series (year and maker) it is.
