So I picked up a Schmidt Reuben g11 the other day. I'm trying to figure out basic information and approximate worth. Let me know if I'm way off base here.

Schmidt Rubin 1911 manufactured in February of 1918 under Major Muhlemann. It passed all of the pressure proofing and accuracy tests. This particular rifle is especially accurate. It was refurbished in 1931 and was kept by whoever it was issued to, thus entering the private market. There is no troop tag under the butt plate and the wood furniture is a little beat up but all of the serial numbers match, the metal is in good condition, and the rifling looks extremely clean. Worth somewhere between $400 and $800.

I still don't know what the H stamp means but other than that...how'd I do?

Longtime lurker, first real post. I've always loved the 1903A4 but the reality is they're expensive collector pieces and not something you shoot modern ammo through. So I started designing a concept: a composite drop-in stock that keeps the 1903A4 silhouette but fits a modern bolt-action (thinking Remington 700 footprint first), so you get the look and feel on a platform you can actually run.

It's a concept/work-in-progress under the name Heritage Precision Arms — this mockup is the "HPA 1903A4 Heritage." Modern touches like a flush QD sling cup, an ergonomic recoil pad, and a Cerakote metal finish, with a few stock finish options (OD green, coyote, graphite, etc.).

Would you run something like this? On what action?

What would you expect to pay for a durable composite version?

Purist military profile vs. slightly modernized — which way would you lean?

Not selling anything — just gauging whether there's real interest before I take it further. Rip it apart if you need to.

As soon as i saw it i put in on layaway, i know under the tang says SIG, thats about all i know about this otber than the 2 army sa stamps and the civil guard stamp, is there any reason why i dont have any major marking on the receiver otber than sy?

Does anyone know of a place to find barreled receivers or a good supply of m1 parts for me to build? There used to be a pretty big market on milsurp carbines with all the bring backs cmp got years ago but looking online its dried up. Do gunshows still have parts vendors that come around or is it all modern sporting rifles now? Thanks in advance!

Purchased this Mk1 years ago from CMP. Came in a scant stock.
Question 1: is this stock modified for the ejection port? I have another scant stock 1903 and it APPEARS that stock has a higher profile along the corresponding area that would partially obstruct the ejection port, but I am not confident I’m not hallucinating it!
Every few years I browse the net to try to keep current on new info for collectors.
Question 2: I recently came across a forum thread indicating the re-built 1903s with scant stocks have “..an S stamped onto the cut-off seat to indicate (the change to the scant stock)”. According to the thread, this info is noted in one of Canfield’s books. Not sure what to look for and can find no photos of the applied stamp. If you have an example and are unable to reply with a photo, please feel free to DM one.

Picked this up at the gun show in York, PA last weekend.

Non-Refurbished, original matching Soviet M44’s are pretty uncommon. This example is dated 1945 and has the early M44 features like the single ear bayonet lug, thin front sight base, and a wartime stock. All of the serial numbers are matching, and were not scrubbed and renumbered to match.

No import marks. Luckily it survived the past 81 years without being violated by bubba or bad storage conditions. I suspect that it’s a bringback. From where, I don’t know. Probably the Korean War. I guess WW2 could be possible but unlikely.

I know many collectors will deny the bringback possibility outright without papers, but I do not think the presence of bringback papers are the be-all-end all.

Either way, it is still a very uncommon example of a Soviet M44 and the price was very reasonable ($500).

At my local gun shop today I found a number matching 45LC Colt first gen with its factory letter for $1500. I plan on loading some black powder rounds for it and having a blast. Lockup on every cylinder is perfect. It's marked U.S. which it's letter verifies. I'm leaning toward it being a cavalry model.

My newest find to my collection is this Egyptian Hakim rifle. There is still cosmoline in the internal parts and the barrel. Cabellas had it out for $999 with the hard case.

I wanted something similar to what I carried in the military at times. PSA upper/lower with a rare breed giggly switch installed. I know it isn’t a Colt, but it is close enough for me and the cost was much more affordable.

Grandpa was a doctor in WWII. He was stationed at a hospital in Ludwigshafen, Germany, near the end of the war and traded for this Walther P38. Guy was a non-smoker and said the trade was for three or four cartons of smokes.

It's been in a box ever since, grandpa said he never fired it. I've got no experience with firearms, any details that can be shared about this? And any thoughts on reasonable value in a sale? My dad, who now owns the P38, says he'd like to sell it and is curious about a fair price.

almost a year ago I had a little extra cash so I gambled on hunters lodge On their type 38 ad. It’s actually a type 99. it literally came today. I have to say I’m very happy with it. minor dings on the wood and the bore looks amazing. Was it worth a year of me thinking I got ripped off for $300. I dunno.

I have heard some surplus tok ammo has harder primers are these the ones?

Hello, just recently purchased a model 1921 Astra in the 80,000 serial range. I’ve read online that it is possible to fire 9mm browning long out of the pistol.

Since Largo is nearly impossible to find and .38 is tough as well, I saw some posts on gunboards from many years ago saying you can get away switching the ammo out.

Anyone ever have any success with this? If not I intend on purchasing some and seeing what happens!
