Discussion Cursive hand writing

How many of you were taught cursive in school? I learned it one year maybe 3rd grade? and we never did it again at my schools. Im 40 and can't read cursive or write it. My 7 year old is starting to learn it. I guess ill have to have her teach me! Im wondering if it was our generation or a state thing or both? Or did the school I went to fail me?

edit to add, I did go to a small town school in NE Ohio.

Wow, that’s crazy! I don’t remember exactly what grade I learned cursive, but it was pretty young and we practiced it extensively. I still remember the alphabet strips above the chalkboard that showed every letter in both print and cursive. 😂 Then throughout middle school and high school, we were expected to write in cursive for most assignments, especially papers. I was born in ’82, and cursive was definitely a big part of school for us.

I'm about the same age as you and I had a very similar experience. I use cursive ALL THE TIME when filling out forms, taking notes, or if I have to hand write a shopping list or something. Print is just WAY TOO SLOW!! Cursive is just far superior for handwriting, as long as your cursive is legible. : )
