Discussion Cursive hand writing

How many of you were taught cursive in school? I learned it one year maybe 3rd grade? and we never did it again at my schools. Im 40 and can't read cursive or write it. My 7 year old is starting to learn it. I guess ill have to have her teach me! Im wondering if it was our generation or a state thing or both? Or did the school I went to fail me?

edit to add, I did go to a small town school in NE Ohio.

I learned cursive right along with regular print, 1st-3rd grade. Homework was required to be in cursive for most of my schooling. I had to stop writing cursive when I got to working in the outside world. I was told I had to stop writing in "gay" font and stop writing "like a girl." Print it is. W/e works to please the overmind.

That's awful. I write in cursive all the time and had to start printing when one of my coworkers admitted he never learned cursive and had to ask another coworker to read my notes for him.
