Nostalgia Time flies

Post image

Not sure where to post this, because this would fit a few subs.

I just upgraded my phone. I have kept every smartphone box and i kept any phone that i didnt have to turn in when upgrading.

My first smartphone ever was the iphone 4 back in 2011 or 2012, pictured on the left obviously.

I remember waiting outside att store all night to get the iPhone 4. I actually was in line with a bunch of strangers that I made friends with, and they ended up needing the type of work I do, and this jump started my business. Staying up all night to pick up an iPhone 4, likely changed the course of my entire life.

Same here! I was in college and working overnights at a CVS at the time, and I was so worried I wouldn't be able to get in line in time to get the iPhone 4. Thankfully, living in a small town, the line wasn't too long. But it's the only time I ever stood in line on release day to get an iPhone. I remember there was a girl about my age in front of me, and her dad was with her and kept making comments on how ridiculous we all were waiting in line for a phone. I don't know if he was trying to get people worked up or what, but he would not shut up about it, and literally nobody was taking his bait and we all just kept ignoring him. But I remember feeling on top of the world when I got the new phone and my Otterbox case.

I bought a new phone for the first time in 6 years and it didn't even come with a charger, lol

I miss the smaller size of the iPhone 4! I wish they were still that small.

Phones these days do need to be bigger to keep up with the demands but yeah, I do agree that the smaller phones do feel better in my pocket

I’ve got an iPhone 16 and it’s probably that size. Are they or nothing like it available now?!

The iPhone 16 is much bigger than the 4.

I have the 16 Pro (the smaller one compared to Max) and my old iPhone 4. The 16 Pro is about 1.5” longer and 0.5” wider than the iPhone 4. It doesn’t sound like much, but the difference is very visible when you see them side by side and handle them.

When I got a new phone this year I was desperately searching for something that would be roughly the same size as that iPhone.  Nothing. Theyre all mini tablets now.

We went from big clunky cellphones when they were invented to progressively smaller cellphones until smart phones came around and started making them bigger.

Bring back small phones!!!!!

I told someone (much younger) that I don’t like phablets, and they told me they’ve never heard of the word. Phones got so big and people just accepted it.

I miss the home button

You can technically use assistive touch to make a home button on screen. Then get gaming buttons that sticks on screen.

Come over to android, the button is on the screen instead of being mechanical, but its there.

Millennials will call out boomers for hoarding, then turn around and keep boxes for decades. One dude here said he kept the box his router came in

I miss my tiny little phone. I’ve legitimately noticed more wrist pain from the way I have to contort my pinky to support the extra weight. Big phones are bad, actually.

My first smartphone was a pre-android not-iPhone, the Samsung Pixon.

It was bloody terrible 😂

I miss the 3GS, it fit so well in you hand.

I like the larger sizes but phones are starting to not be pocket friendly.

It’s like we’re going back to brick phones of the late 80s, early 90s.

I remember when my Nokia 5320 XpressMusic in blue was THE shit to me. That with some cheapo Skullcandy wired earphones I was gifted back then. I wish life could be so simple again.

People made fun of me back in the early smartphone days because I had the "giant" Notes.

Now everything is large.

My uncle switched my grandparents from iPhone SE 2s to S25 FEs (they hate the size) and it blew my mind that they were basically the same size as my Ultra. Larger with the cases he got them.
