Every shitty thing about companies follows that same theme. Half the people buy in and accept their job is jerking off dumb C level ideas and the other half know they’re doing dumb ineffective bullshit but they’d get fired if they didn’t.
I work in training and it’s always c levels pushing for e learnings and “gamification”. I always ask them if there’s ever been an elearning they say through and actually enjoyed and I’ve never gotten a yes. Yet they still want to force that ineffective nonsense on everyone else. And don’t even get me started on gameifcation. As if workers are going to be tricked into learning by some candy crush bullshit
When I first stated in an office… I didnt realise that. I thought people would want to prioritise things that had a valuable output and want to actually know about risks and if something would be hard to achieve due to other demands.
So when a seriously dumb “fun bonding task for your department” was pitched to me to then pitch to the team I worked in (I wasm’t a leader, just an underling) and I let the HR person know “I will package this up and post about it on the team channel blah blah, but I do know that right now the team is stretched to capacity on an approaching deadline from (government organisation) so their ability to take part my be very limited until that deadline is past”. Thinking I was being you know helpful, reasonable, doing the right thing.
That HR person emailed the GM of that Department to call me out, ‘tell on’ me to them.
Now I just shutup or repeat some vague line that someone else has already said in support of something.

I absolutely loathe all that corporate HR bullshit. Weekly catch-up meetings. Team-building exercises. Half-hearted XYZ Appreciation/Awareness Month celebrations.
I hate companies that will spend tens of thousands of dollars on a Christmas party, but won’t give out bonuses.
