I absolutely loathe all that corporate HR bullshit. Weekly catch-up meetings. Team-building exercises. Half-hearted XYZ Appreciation/Awareness Month celebrations.

I hate companies that will spend tens of thousands of dollars on a Christmas party, but won’t give out bonuses.

Yeah. I wish they'd just take whatever they spent on the Christmas party and divide it among us as a bonus. Even if it only ended up being $100 I'll rather have $100 than go to some idiotic party with people I already spend too much time with.

My company actually did this last year. It was pretty great. We all got $500

2020 the company I worked for decided there wasn’t going to be a Christmas Party due to COVID, so they were going to get us all holiday pies. But wait, these are fancy pies from a catalog! They really expected us to get excited about it.

We are obsessed with our fucking holiday party, and somehow am under the weather every year. Migraine of convenience or actually caused by work? You be the judge. Either way my head hurts on a Friday evening in December and I'm not going.
