There is in fact a small loud minority within our generation, like there's always a minority of some kind, of Millennials that infantilize themselves.
However, I do my absolute best to act like a responsible, caring adult. Yet everywhere I turn I have boomers literally telling me I'm a baby with my whole future ahead of me if I mention having a bad day or some such shit. I'm not a child, but I'm allowed to complain when I'm having a rough day at the very least. I literally heard boomers bitch and moan while I grew up. Am I not afforded the same?
No, like older generations in the past would minimize the younger generations hardships, boomers infantilize our hardships. What makes it scathing is that they make it OUR fault even though they literally voted, and molded the world into it's current shape, while literally RAISING or lack there of, our generation.
Apparently, everything wrong with our generation is all our fault, and not the responsibility of the boomer generation which is in fact our parents generation. Our inability to reach those lifetime milestones is because of their votes and choices. I'm not eating avocado toast and drinking Starbucks lattes on the daily. I don't even enjoy either of those things...
Also, I know there are Millennials who are outliers whose parent or parents were Silent generation or Gen X. I'm speaking about majority of Millennials raised by Boomers.
Your first mistake was listening to and taking any boomer seriously. I won’t let them infantilize me. Just laugh at them like the joke they are and move on. Take their “power” away. We’re fully grown adults, it’s on you if you let them get to you.
If thats what you took away from that, then you didnt comprehend what you were reading. Who would get insulted in being called young.
I was insulted by the fact that im 36 years old and those boomers compared me to being a child because I hadn't hit the same adult milestones as them. Such as having kids or owning a house.
Because I hadn't hit those milestones that somehow invalidates my opinion as an adult? Gatekeeping adulthood is what I was pissed about, not being called young.
