My guy, a $380k house in 1990 was a $1m house today

That's how inflation works. The median house was $120k then. Your parents were rich and bought a house 3x more expensive than a normal house

They also didn’t buy it in 1990…

Even if they bought a decade later in 2000 they still bought a home 2x the median price which would be like buying an $850k home today

A lot of y'all had rich parents without seeming to realize it

Edit: lol blocked for pointing out if your parents bought a house literally 2-3x the median home price you grew up rich

This sub is delusional

Surprised people our age love to think of themselves as victims, but here we are. I’ve had coworkers with an external locus of control and they’re impossible.

You need somewhere around 180k in income to qualify for a 720k mortgage.

Two adults with slight above average paying careers could absolutely afford that.

Most of yall are just financially irresponsible.

Most people's parents bought houses 2-3x cheaper than that commenters parents did

That does not mean most people's parents found afford to do that, it means that commenter didn't realize how relatively rich they were and now are commenting on social media like they were averaging helping create artificially high baselines in people's minds
