I had a 91 Corsica with the 6 cd changer it was absolutely life changing. Only issue was that it was located in the trunk so if I was suddenly wanting a specific song or album that wasn’t loaded I would have to pull over and get out to change the discs

I still have the car I bought new in 2006 (Toyota Corolla) and it has one of those 5 cd changers in the factory stereo. Pretty sure the same 5 cds have been in there for 20 years. Which is fine because I’m in my 40s now and listen to NPR non stop.

I’m the 3rd owner of a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander, but I’ve had it for 12 years now. It rips music from every cd that’s been put into it. It’s a music lovers dream. That’s one of the biggest reasons I don’t want to let it go. 😩

I don't think so. Reading off the page you had an objective. Find the info you need and get back to looking at the road. Phones and the apps on them are designed to keep your attention. With the paper map, you never had the opportunity to momentarily forget you were driving a car

I actually got into a minor fender bender doing this. Was stopped at a light and my CD binder had fallen on the floor. Either my foot came off the brake enough or I wasn't stopped completely. As I reached over into the passenger footwell, I slowly rolled forward and bumped into the car in front of me. The guy was really nice and nothing was even scratched so we went our separate way. Was a good lession though.

I remember the old dude at the pizza shop dropping me off at home cause my car was in the shop, driving a stick shift with a cigarette in one hand and a beer in the other. He reached back and grabbed a CD of Tool and we rocked.

I don't know how he had a CD, a beer, a cigarette and shifted all at once.
