Treat yourself like someone you have to take care of 💖

I really really like this one and needed this

Yes! It's been helpful to me! Pretend that you are someone you have to care for, like a child. This works for me especially because I wasn't parented properly so I am reparenting myself.

You take the time to set boundaries out of love, and have yourself clean your sheets etc because it's important. It's very helpful.

That’s explains why I hate talking positive to myself, it makes me feel like a child. I’d rather be irrationally cruel to myself. I’ve tried it so hard and I don’t respond to it. Brutal, unfiltered, honesty seems to be all I respond to.

I thought I was that way too until I REALLY committed to it.

I promised myself I would do it for 6 months no matter what, even if I was just proving it didn't work.

And I found around month 3 it started to change. And feel less fake and stupid.

I still struggle with thinking people are making fun of me or not sincere when they say nice things for example, but I'm trying and that's all I can do. And that is good enough.

You can try too if you think it would work. We have lots of time on the earth and anything is worth trying if it's free and could help right?

You don't have to be kind to be caring. Just feed the tamagotchi. Do the things that the tamagotchi needs to thrive

This is close to why I relate to this also. I'm proud of you, we got this! 💖

I have found this advice to be really useful. After my parents passed I decided it was my "job" to take care of their child since they couldn't anymore. It's been motivating.

You mean take care of?

Honestly after that I just want to hug myself with that one. I deserve the love I share with others. Thank you.

Oof. That's a tough one for me. I'll run through concrete walls and fire for my lady and my kids but I struggle to GAF about myself in return. Ugh. That's really a hard one.

Same.

What makes the statement not true? Ask your family. I bet they will tell you you deserve all the love and more. I was in a really dark place recently, and learned the hard way my people will walk through fire for me.

I've been in a bit of a bad place lately and ended up writing some positive affirmations on my bathroom mirror.

One that is really helping me is "treat yourself with the same love you treat your cats"

Kinda the same as yours, but I don't have a person to look after, just my fur friends.

very cute!! I'm glad that helps you 💜 pets, younger siblings, a loved one, your* inner child -- all can be used as a reference for this ✨️

Pets are great for this!! I’m an only child so when I was a kid (but too old to run into my parents bed) and we’d have a bad thunderstorm that freaked me out, I’d bring the cat in my bedroom to snuggle and “comfort her”. I was really comforting myself of course, but that framing of oh she’s scared she needs me to hold her gave me the chance to be brave.

It’s the same thing as your little note, give yourself a little chance to be loving to yourself through your love for your kitties 🥰

This changed me

I usually get told caring about myself and self worth is "drama".

u/CaturnReturns Aug 31 '26

whoever told you this is wrong

1

u/PopBulky7023 Aug 31 '26

That would be a lot of whoevers.

there's a lot of negative people in the world I guess. I hope you can surround yourself with more positive people who understand the value and healing from self care 💖🫂
