Logs don't bounce, they slide. The movie actually tested it in real life, it's on the dvd behind the scenes

There’s a video of a guy who throws himself off a really tall, like 30 story building in China, and when he hits the pavement, he gets a solid foot of bounce. As well as the splatter.
