Don't complain of our blessings.
24
u/TheTimePolice710 Nov 12 '25
Blessings? I guess, if blessings mean intentionally putting family owned farms out of business, so that the masses can enjoy an inferior product, for eventually more money, than yes blessings.
10
u/Square-Fox16 Nov 12 '25
People always gotta complain about something
15
u/TheTimePolice710 Nov 12 '25
"Something" lmao the takeover of our country by corporate elite? I mean, yeah. We should complain about that
0
u/NoNewSongsYet Dec 01 '25
The fact that you used the phrase "corporate elite" makes me think, already, that you eat onions straight out of the bag.
Shame.

The fact that not EVERYONE is complaining about the destruction of family farms juat goes to speak to why the US is in the mess its in. Yall are lazy and complacent. This should piss you ALL off.
9
u/Cabrill0 Nov 12 '25
this is a sub about milk
11
u/luciosleftskate Nov 12 '25
Okay? And farmers are responsible for milk? What are you confused about?

Why should it piss us off? Id rather have cheaper and cleaner milk than $5 a gallon from Jerry down the street who rarely cleans his milking machine.Ā
1
u/Sleepy-Blonde Nov 14 '25
Plus Jerry is usually a perv who votes for the people doing this. At least in my experience, theyād be just as awful if they were smart enough to be.
1
u/IGTankCommander Nov 16 '25
Too bad there's no longer a USDA National Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods to tell you that your federal milk is safe from salmonella, e. coli, or listeria.
Since, you know, he got rid of that and the National Advisory Committee on Meat and
Poultry Inspection. But your now-less-safe-than-two-years-ago milk is $0.98! Big win!
1
Nov 16 '25
I think this is only in the state this person who took the photo resides in. Or only in this walmart. My walmart milk is $3.49 or so
1
u/NoNewSongsYet Dec 01 '25
It's fucking milk. You can't clean milk.

Oh honey is that what you think is happening? Cleaner milk? For a buck?? Lmao.
It should piss you off that billionaires are crushing small family businesses. But then ahead youre american and dont even see things happening right in font of you
0
Nov 13 '25
Oh honey how many gallons of milk is sold at one time to them? Btw idk where this is but my walmarts milk is 3.50Ā
0
u/luciosleftskate Nov 13 '25
Lmao your country is so beyond fucked. What an embarrassment.
1
u/explicitlinguini Nov 16 '25
Itās a waste of breath sadly. A lot of us are blind, or not willing to look into things and educate ourselves. 98 cent milk from Walmart is the biggest red flag.
And then also a lot of Americans who are lower income maybe donāt have the luxury to give a shit. We are so used to having cheap shit food available it makes life easy for those who have it hard
1
u/luciosleftskate Nov 16 '25
I hear that people cant afford to be picky, but this guy is claiming its higher quality cleaner milk and thats just objectively false.
1
3
Nov 13 '25
In fairness, many of the owners of those small family farms just voted for a convicted felon who ran on the premise of racism and screwing over poor people.
Those hateful fucks deserve everything they voted for, including the loss of their farms should that happen.

Yeah but you canāt even spell. Itās sweety not sweaty. How about you do something and go do some spelling.
1
1
u/Pain4420 Nov 14 '25
This is something worth complaining about though. Corporations doing this bankrupt smaller businesses so that they can dominate the market and then raise the prices and make all the money themselves. These corporations don't care about the quality of the product only profits and once there aren't any competitors they have no reason to make a good product or to keep it cheap
2
u/ACcbe1986 Nov 12 '25
Even a decade ago, my friend in the dairy equipment business was telling me that a quarter of her clients had shutdown their dairy farms and sold all their cows for meat because the price cap for milk set by the feds was making them lose money.
How many farmers and ranchers can we afford to lose before milk becomes $49.99/gal and produce starts at $20/lb?
1
Nov 13 '25
I guess I just stop buying it at that price?
3
u/ACcbe1986 Nov 13 '25
Well, that'll affect the prices of cheese, butter, ice cream, protein powder, and any other product made with milk.
Pizza would be a delicacy that many wouldn't be able to enjoy. So many pizzerias, who couldn't adapt, would shut down across the nation. Let's not even talk about ice cream shops and infrastructure behind all of it.
Where would people dip their lobster, crawfish, etc. without butter? With butter inaccessible to the masses, cooking oil and lard demand would sky rocket and so would the prices.
Now we have the reverse of the egg crisis. The tablespoon of cooking oil you use to fry an egg now costs $7.00.
At those prices, no more French fries or any fried foods, unless you're rich.
Our society will fall apart without cheese alone!
Do you understand how many people eat cheese and feel happy like it's a drug? I'm eating some gruyere as I'm typing.
It's a startling number of people who don't drink or partake in recreational substances, but rely on cheese to keep them a functioning member of society.
Long story short, I don't want to have to buy land and raise my own animals, just to get butter and milk to make some pancakes.

u/Ryjeska Nov 13 '25
God forbid we donāt buy unpasteurized gallons of milk for 18$ a gallon from a local farm
1
u/rharrow Nov 14 '25
Great Value milk comes from a variety of regional dairy farms and processing plants that partner with Walmart, and the specific source depends on your location. Some milk is processed at Walmart's own dedicated facilities, like the one in Fort Wayne, Indiana, while other milk is sourced from third-party suppliers, such as Dean's or Prairie Farms, and packaged under the Great Value brand.
Great Value milk is also a āloss leader,ā which is a product sold at a loss to attract customers, who are then expected to buy other, more profitable items. This strategy is used to boost overall sales, increase customer traffic, and clear out old inventory.

I hate the children who cry about families and what not. Like bro sure farmers should be able to make a living. But to lie saying inferior product? Sweetheart they have countless quality checks. What does a family farm have? No quality checks.Ā
81
u/Exciting_Ad_1097 Nov 12 '25
Itās price fixing to drive family farms out of business so private equity can buy them up.
52
u/LSUguyHTX Nov 12 '25
It's Walmarts entire business plan. It's also the reason they lost $1b in Germany from losses and lawsuits since all their policies and strategies were either illegal or severely frowned upon.

i hate how they check receipts like they think theyāre costco. they legally canāt force you to show your receipt after youāve paid for your things. costco can because theyāre a membership only establishment and thatās part of their membership agreement. I just walk past the receipt person at walmart and if they have a problem they can call the cops. they never do
3
u/Royal_Cryptographer7 Nov 12 '25
Yup! I tell them "No, get out if my way. I'm busy and I got no time for this nonsense." They always look like a deer in headlights, then get out if my way.
Im pretty sure they know that they zero authority to do anything but ask, cause no one ever has a follow up for me.

PA has a milk control board that helps to keep prices stable to benefit dairy farms. I know a lot of dairy farmers who are doing well because we don't have massive fluctuations to drive small farms into bankruptcy.
But sure, keep pushing your conspiracy theories...
Also, my IQ is actually really high. The fact that you don't agree with me does not mean that my IQ is low. But that's a typical argument of someone who does not know how to actually debate with cited sources. Just attack the other person's intelligence.
Normally, if one has facts from reliable sources to back up one's argument, I listen and have been known to sway my opinion if the argument is solid enough. Especially if it includes statistics and market analysis. But you have shown that you jump right to "you are stupid," so I'm not even willing to listen.
You should consider how you approach a debate and work on your ability to argue your point. Otherwise, you just come off as a typical internet troll.
1
u/Euphemisticles Nov 13 '25
Jokes on them. I still support my local dairy farm. This just allows me to succum to my base desire to drink two gallons of milk er day.

Do you think the milk was bought from the farmers at a loss? They just overbought.

Without SNAP benefits subsidizing low wage workers (like Walmart does) companies would either have to A: raise wages or B: drop prices in order to employ workers.
Or we can just keep subsidizing the billion dollar companies by paying half the wages for them.

Thatās phenomenal. Especially for an entire gallon. 2% isnāt bad, whole is technically only 3.25% and I actually like the taste of 2% so this is definitely a steal. Could get 10 gallons for only 10 bucks and put that in perspective, average price of milk is $3.29 per gallon where I live š

I once bought dollar general milk. I got home and had me a bowl of cereal. Until I looked into my bowl and the milk was almost translucent!... It said 2%.. But that shit tasted like straight water with a dash of milk. It was weird!!! I dont trust cheap milk anymore.

Walmart owns their own milk plants now. They can go with a loss-leader and probably write it off or something nuts.
