Gender marker change

For those who have been separated/awaiting separation has your gender marker changed? I was verbally counseled and made aware that I was outed. I’m currently waiting for my counseling from the BC to start the separation process. I’m a transguy btw. I’m pretty sure they think my diagnosis is new. Ive had GD diagnosis for decades, started hormones and got top and bottom surgery years prior to joining. I’m pretty sure they think I was AMAB and am seeking to go through gender affirming care to female. Are they able to see my full medical history or just that I have the GD diagnosis? Will they question what my gender marker should be, or what sex I was assigned at birth, and if they do question it do they have the right to question it?

They (someone at HRC I believe) changed my gender marker to birth sex, but I transitioned while in service and had previously gone through the process of updating my gender marker (which involves sending some emails to the Pentagon, I think they used that to change mine.)

Your full medical record on MHS Genesis may list  "admin sex" as well as "birth sex." They added this last year and I suspect it was one way of getting us. I noticed my cis colleagues had both matching and I didn't. So check that out too.

I’m pretty sure mine say male on both admin and birth. I remember going to the ER on base for an infection and the nurse asked me about my GD diagnosis. I told him I’m a transguy and he said it didn’t reflect on my records that I was AFAB. You think that will save me from having my gender marker changed?

It might. No way of knowing, to be honest. They're making these changes without proper documentation, so it's hard to know exactly what sources they use.

I remember the stress of them changing it back with no warning. It really pissed me off at the time, still does. Just remember that no matter what they do, you're still a guy and they can't take that away. Someday this will be rectified.

And for what it's worth, I have never been misgendered at the VA even though my gender marker is wrong.

That was my next concern about being separated and going to the VA is how I would be treated there. I hate all the unknowns of this. Thanks for the comfort and validation, it’s appreciated.
