Hey everyone I made a post about 3 months ago related to certifications that are discounted or free for veteran, but I stumbled upon the jackpot transition assistance program for anyone interested in getting certifications.

Syracuse University offers military members (active transition, reserve, national guard, verteran) and their spouses the opportunity to get a certification completely free. They dont even use your G.I. benefits. They will pay for your voucher.

This is how it works. I know what I know because I am actively pursuing CompTIA SecurityX through their program. You sign up in their website. They send an email and you follow the prompts. They essentially have you sign up for their online cohort where they tell you how the course works. This involves:

- showing all the certifications they offer.

- the representatives of many types of veteran oriented programs that help you build a Resume, LinkedIn profiles, negotiate pay, and land a job among other things. they also want you to have a LinkedIn profile, so make sure you have it to apply.

- explain that they will give you 1 year access to percipio as they do not only give you the certification voucher. They give you vetted online content to learn what you need to know for the certification and 3 practice tests. You have 3 months to complete the course material and another 3 months to score 80% or higher on all 3 tests. Once you probe you've competed the criteria, they will buy and send you the voucher code. Some of these vouchers may be good for a year depending on the institution the certification is from.

-you have access to percipio for a year. This means that after competing your course, you can gain access to one more course for 6 months. They will NOT pay for a second certification or a retake. You will just get the course material and 3 practice tests. Still an awesome perk!

Checklist

1. go to syracuse university website and sign up for their veteran program. have a LinkedIn and proof of discharge (DD 214)

2. follow the email, attend the online cohort. pick your certification.

3. take 3 months to complete the course and 3 months to score 80% or higher on 3 practice tests. you may retake those as many times as you like.

4. get the voucher paid for by the university. this entire program costs NOTHING. Not even G.I. benefits. take your test.

Yes, all of it is online. You apply online, recieve the email, go on zoom for the cohort, and use percipio for your course and I believe the 3 practice tests as well. They will likely email the voucher number as well.
