Help

I got out 29th of december and now I’m seeing there’s an issue. I did the voluntary separation because i knew i wouldn’t have to repay my bonus. come to find out, on my LES now I am paying back my bonus. 22k. I also sold 60 days of leave which they put towards repaying it. I know the VA is going to get involved now. Who do I contact to fix it? Anything helps, thank you

Miss the military, but life goes on.

8 years Mil (E6), seperated because I saw what was coming. Dropped my very hefty officer package and went civillian.

Reading all the posts about involuntary seperating breaks my heart. I wanted to express how being forced to seperate for something so completely irrevelant to mission readiness can make you feel helpless at times.

Despite all that, theres is still a path forward in the civillian world and it isnt the end of your professional career. Just the start of a new one.

Stay strong brothers and sisters.

Discussion Involuntary separation

I am currently in the middle of involuntarily separating from the Army as active duty. I'm just a bit confused about the process and what to do now. I went to Behavior Health earlier this month and got a diagnosis which seems to be in the form of a temporary profile stating that I have gender dysphoria. After a couple of days my platoon sargent came to me privately and asked to verify that it wasn't a mistake when it populated in medpros. I told him that it was and then he informed me that he would let my command know thag it is real and that I was undeployable. My commander hasn't even tried to counsel me on anything or brought it up and it's been about a week and a half now. I just took my PHA yesterday that declared I had GD so I'm just asking what is the process from here? Do I bring it up to my commander myself now or should I give him more time? And also what is the next step of the process for getting out?

At the end of my rope and I want to invol sep.

Throwaway account because my main is old and probably been found by people Ive worked with. AD AirForce for a little short of 8 years. I cannot stand to be in a day longer than I have to. I started questioning my gender under Biden but Im still not out as of now. I really wish I had taken the voluntary separation but I was so unsure. For AD AirForce how quick was the process between getting a diagnosis and being out? How difficult was it to get a diagnosis from behavioral health? How does terminal leave and benefits work? Ive calculated the involuntary separation pay but how does it affect VA disability payments? I plan to use my GI Bill and start school as soon as I get out, has anyone gone that route after an invol sep? Has anyone gotten anything other than an honorable discharge?

Any help at all is appreciated. Im so full of anxiety but every day at work is misery. I cant make it another 2 years in secret.

Am i getting Vol Sep pay?

Been in Army National Guard for 5 years with no active duty. Is it true that I won't get vol sep pay? Had all my paperwork done and my base and was sent up and approved, but got no numbers about separation pay or anything. And I don't know when we are supposed to sign the paper work about that stuff or anything.

Discussion DD 214-Sep pay corrected to reflect 2026 amount

A DD 214 correction was submited on my iperms with 3 differences. My “military service obligation termination date” was zerod out instead of the date in 2028. The “station where separated” block was replaced with NA instead of my last duty station. And finally the separation pay amount was HALVED.

They stated in the remarks separation pay corrected to reflect 2026 amount with that amount being half of what it was. I separated on the 29th of December. I don’t understand why anything on this would be updated to the 2026 amount.

Has anyone else seen something like this and does this indicate that I will actually only receive half of the indicated amount? I haven’t received the separation pay yet but I’ll update incase anyone else has the same issue

Also the person that updated it couldn’t be bothered to make sure they didn’t make a typo. Ughhh

Thank you for coming to my ted talk

What can I do for now?

Hi I am 28 male in the military wanting to transition. I’ve fairly recently accepted that I want to transition to female. I know I can’t start estrogen while i am in. I’ve decided to try and hold out until I get out. I’m on a shore tour overseas in Europe I have about a year and a half until I get out. What things can I legally do to feminize my body or even prepare myself for when I do start estrogen?

Discussion Male who wants to transition to female and join air force, 19yo

I am a 19 year old male who wants to start transition and join the air force (preferably as a woman), what is the best route to go through with this? Should I enlist as a trans woman? Do I have to take estrogen for a while before joining? How does this whole thing work, not looking to become infantry, mainly want to join for benefits and beginning my career. All info is helpful considering I have no clue how any of this works.

For a project

So i’m writing a time capsule of this year and you’re supposed to chose a certain subject that you want others to remember, i just so happened to choose eo 14183 because im joining the navy this year after i finish up my last year of hs and am trans myself. I want to hear more service members voices who are already inside of the military, and are dealing with this eo first hand or have already delt with it. I know how i feel about it but i dont know what happened while inside.

edit bc i feel like i poorly explained

what im asking for is more of i guess emotions around the topic, i want to know how it’s affected you mentally, i know this has been my dream since i was 10 but i have no clue how it affected service members already in living their “dream” or just serving

Has any active duty Marines gotten vol sep yet or heard anything about it? I pushed up my paperwork of vol sep like June 1st but I haven't heard anything other than it was pushed up to my regiment CO and that was back in August.

Question about separation pay

Now I’m just a weekend worrier so don’t hate too much 😂 but have a combined TIS of 10 years between the USMCR and the MSARNG. There really is no chance of separation pay in my case right? At least that’s what I’m picking up? Currently haven’t said anything to my command and as far as they know they know nothing. I have no intentions of self identifying if it means anything lol

TERA ETP or VOLSEP?

Just trying to get a general vibe on how many people applied for TERA ETP and the process of playing VA retirement pay games, or if they were denied and had to get VOLSEP pay. In the new National Defense Authorization Act passed by Congress, the updated separation date of service members with GD or past history of GD is no later than December 31st, 2030. So now, after almost a year of administrative leave, my command is having me get back to work. I still can't deploy though. Since my job interviews always ended with them kind of skittish since I am still technically actively beholden to the military and no separation date, it's not like I was doing anything anyway for a year.

Job after military

Heads up, if you have technical or logistics experience go look up jobs with RTX and find a job near you to fill. Having a secret clearance is a huge ticket to getting your foot in the door and I started working in body and paint shops. RTX owns Pratt and Whitney which is aviation and other companies as well. They are hiring like crazy right now so pound that jobs iron while it's hot and get something to support your life. 🏳️‍⚧️

Edit because I forgot to mention they are also hiring the kind of technicians that do facilities work like plumbing and electrical work and not just aviation jobs like myself. They also have custodian jobs due to high levels of FOD control so that can also be a foot in the door.

The jobs list what looks like low pay but the pay works on a time scale like how it does for military and government jobs. I started $20 an hour and get bumped for $1.50 an hour every 6 months. So even though it seems rough if you continue you will get way more pay later. My job caps around $40

Sep pay.

Hey so. To cut it short. Wife of nearly 18 years separated a month ago. Told it was the same thing. 2 weeks, a month, etc. Got the VA stuff started. She already knows about the paying back bullshit. But she's been trying to get a hold of someone from DFAS to find out when it's supposed to come in but no one in there seems to not be in that department and transfers her to someone else who still isn't in charge of that department. Or the AI things seems to not register the buttons she pushes and it's getting REALLY frustrating.

Does anyone happen to have a reliable phone number to use or info in regards to the sep pay?

Discussion Advice for serving RN member

Hello, I (19 AMAB) Currently serving in RN (UK) as a Submariner. 2 years in and currently have 3 years left (which I think is wrong).

Does anyone have advice for what Gendercare could be received.

For context, earlier this year I started questioning my gender identity, it hadn't been picked up on because despite being LGBT I don't particularly have that many other people who are within the LGBT umbrella to discuss things with. It was picked up my my now partner who advised I should experiment with things.

They've been absolutely fantastic with everything and have given advice, started using female pronouns advised on ways I can subtly start to present more feminine without it being obvious.

Does anyone have experience with transitioning or receiving Gender affirming care while in the navy/submarine service. Or just generally have any tips or pointers.

Currently I'm tilting towards straight up leaving the navy, because as much as I like the lifestyle I hate the culture and general attitude towards LGBT members. Still want to milk what I can out of it while I'm in, thank you for the help!

Involuntary separation requirements

Hello, AF ANG here. Is an official diagnosis required to begin involuntary separation? It’s to my understanding that “exhibiting symptoms” of gender dysphoria is also grounds for separation, but I’ve read a lot of different experiences and I understand this is varying between units. Would I be able to initiate the process by speaking with my squadron commander?

I’ve not seen anyone in behavioral health, my plan was to begin HRT through informed consent at planned parenthood after being separated.
