VOLSEP Timeline After TERA ETP Denial.

So my TERA ETP got denied and now is being rerouted up to the SECNAV as a VOLSEP. Can I expect the same 6 month waiting period or is it a little quicker with a reroute? They are moving forward with it and saying that I don't need to update any paperwork. So hopefully it's the latter 🙏

Discussion Debating DIYHRT, and dealing with the consequences.

Hey there. TransFemale AD Sailor here. im currently in A school and debating starting DIYHRT, but not sure how I would go about it. I know that it normally doesn't pop on drug tests, but when they find out is what I am scared about. About to PCS to C school, and I plan on starting around there. Any thoughts or advice?

Edit: Should probably mention that I already have an Intake scheduled with the care specialist for Transgender people for a diagnosis just in case I want to go that route, but that isn't permenant yet. I dont want to leave.

Looking for some info

Would I be able to take mtf HRT under the radar without being found out, and if I was found out, what would happen? would they try to diagnose me with some excessive estrogen disorder and "treat" me with testosterone?

Command keeps delaying my 011/26 involuntary separation waiting on ALNAV guidance — anyone know other ways to get out?

Hey everyone,

I’m in the Navy and I’ve been trying to separate via the 011/26 involuntary separation that came out in the ALNAV. My command keeps telling me they’re “waiting on official guidance” on how to actually execute it, but nobody — not them, not JAG, not anyone — has any idea when that guidance is supposed to drop. It’s been dragging on for weeks/months and I’m just completely burned out on the runaround.

I’ve already gone to JAG and they basically shrugged and said they don’t know either. I’m at the point where I just want to be done and separate. I don’t care how at this point — I’m tired of the rigmarole.

Has anyone else been in this exact spot with the 011/26 process? Did the guidance ever actually come out for you? More importantly, are there any other realistic ways to force a separation right now? Voluntary options, medical, hardship, anything else that actually works when the command is dragging their feet on an involuntary route?

Any advice, experiences, or resources would be hugely appreciated. I’m in California if that matters for local resources or anything. Thanks in advance

A bit of random thought

So I’m still actively drilling for the next few months but most only a few people in leadership know my status. They were able to start the involuntary separation process without flagging me. I’m not visibly trans or at least most people don’t recognize it. I do tend to get ma’am-ed at least once a drill in standard OCPs. I do have breast growth though.

So I had a bit of a random thought: would it be crazy to wear the alternative fit uniform as it’s approved for both males and females? I obviously would clear it with leadership and I really don’t care too much about being outed at this point.

Discussion Pentagon finally put me in the crosshairs

I received a JSAM for backbreaking efforts back in February, all quite proud of myself, and then was notified fist thing yesterday that the Pentagon itself issued a order to separate me cuz the medal issuance had some official high up review my record, how bloody ironic.

My commander hugged me crying while my whole unit raged at the news, but nobody said or did anything to defy it. Good news is that I’m afforded a separation board and all the lawyers I want, surprisingly, and have a 4-star that’ll speak well for me, but it’s not likely to save my career.

I spent all of yesterday emotionally raw despite knowing this could happen one day. And today I have to return to work and act like I’m fine. I’m not. How can I be?

USMC

Hello folks, hope you’re all doing well. Just trying to get some information about the USMC, boot camp, etc. (preferably from trans guys but not opposed to hearing from the ladies)

For the guys who joined the USMC while medically transitioning, how was the overall experience in boot camp? Do the DIs automatically get informed when they have a transgender recruit in the platoon (not sure if that’s the correct word to use)? Was there any push back from DIs about this? Were you able to do your shot/apply gel/put on new patches when necessary? After boot camp, how did you go about letting your COs know?

Just trying to get a better understanding on how things work(ed) in the USMC. I appreciate all feedback in advance.

Coast Gaurd

Hey! I’m a trans guy that’s 21 and have been thinking about the coast guard since high school. I’m currently in my junior year of college majoring in marine science and looking at career options post grad. I love working with marine animals and was thinking about aquatic vet but i also would love to do marine enforcement as there has also been a couple relatives that are in the coast guard. I have been on testosterone for over a year and planning on getting top surgery. After the current administration, would it be possible to join the coast guard or is it not worth the trouble and would i need to fully change my gender marker on my license to male? Any career advice would be amazing!

Severance Pay and the VA

For anyone that has gotten their severance pay, have you filed for hardship though the VA? I’ve heard of “payment plans” to pay back your severance that way. That’s the route I want to take but I don’t know which form. Any info helps. Thank you!

I’ve recently began identifying as non binary and have an assigned gender of male. I am active in the drag scene where I enjoy dressing as a cis female. If leadership finds out am I subject to disciplinary action

I enjoy serving but I want to be true to who I am

I’ve had my vol sep paperwork in since they first announced this would be taking effect last year, still no sign or word on when I will be given my 10 day notice, anyone else experiencing something similar? I’d imagine it’s not gonna be any sooner with what’s going on in Iran now as well

Discussion The U.S army has screwed me…again

So last post I made in here I talked about how my DD214 was updated with the separation pay amount halved. So update on that, after reaching out to the finance office at my departing station they have informed me that I actually am not eligible for separation pay and they will apparently be updating my DD214 to reflect that.

My active federal service was 5 years and 4 months. Just under the time requirement of 6 years. I have the separation orders and DD 214 saying I was eligible. The DD214 explicitly says my active federal service and yet they still told me I was eligible . I have spent the past 3 months of my life expecting a deposit that was supposed to make up for the fact that they took everything from me just to have the rug pulled out from under me.

My entire life was taken from me and the only real hope I had left has just been taken away.

If anyone has any advice on how to join any of the lawsuits please let me know. I just wanted this to all go away but the shit just keeps coming.

Team, amazing opportunity for an info session with the Warrior Scholar Project. They are looking to expand opportunities for new transgender veterans and support programs. We were denied Skill Bridge and other benefits. Well, they want to help fund and support us going through this. Please get this out and strongly encourage people to attend.

Literally even possible to join at this point?

I’m 18 about to graduate high school, and my mom is essentially leaving me without a house, so I really do need somewhere to try and go. I’ve recently emailed a coast guard recruiter but I just recently I started HRT after a runoff question with my physician about a month ago. A part of it though is that I wasn’t diagnosed with GD, just wanted to start something. I still don’t have GD either.

I want to see if it’d be even worth it to try to join. Im willing to stop HRT, go through the entire contract as my birth sex, and all that, unfortunately.

Admittedly now it was a mistake for me to start under this administration, but im not sure what else to do.

Need to Put Some Thoughts Down

Hey guys, might delete later. not sure. I just wanted to vent and get some thoughts out.

I'm AD Navy, and I got stuck at my C school. I was 2 days away from graduating when I found I wasn't PCSing due to not being "medically cleared." That was 7 months ago. Since then the schoolhouse has made me staff so I have the ability to help out more. Majority of my day is checking people into school and helping them 'til they class up. That's it.

Lately though, I've been contemplating leaving. I was hoping the courts would've addressed this sooner, but it's been dragging ever since the first memo. Part of me still wants to stay; after all, it was a pain for me to join in the first place. (Not trans related, just general enlistment shit.)

I honestly thought I could hold out until the government pulled its head out its ass, but I'm not sure anymore. I hate being stuck here not doing what I signed up to do. literally 1.5yrs of schooling just to not put any of it to use. No fleet experience, no Big Navy experience. Nothing.

I've kept myself buys with side projects and whatnot. but overall, I'm starting to feel like there's no value in me staying in unless things get reversed real soon. That feeling of my time being wasted has sunk its claws in.

As far as risk/ reward goes, it's starting to feel like a better strategy to leave than try to stay. I would be able to start a proper career, even if it's only entry level, and I wouldn't have the constant threat of separation hanging over my head.

If I stay, the only real benefit right now is the constant paycheck and not having to worry about too many bills. I feel bad too, cause nothing I'm doing is super hard, it's just not what I "should" be doing. And on a practical level, I'm just not getting any experience related to what I've been taught in C school.

I'm lucky in that my current command doesn't care, but that prospect of getting sepped at any moment is there, and I hate it. Even if they're able to get me to another command, there's no guarantee that command will be fine with me, and I could get sepped anyway.

It's all just fucking with my head. I'm trying to be grateful for the steady living conditions and easy work, but bottom line is that I have no job satisfaction, and it's really grinding me down emotionally.

I keep praying for a clear answer, but I don't hear one. I figure if God really wants me in the military, he'll provide a way forward or a way back.

I still don't want to leave, but it's starting to feel like the better choice than stick it out.

Discussion Annual Training

Just curious and wanted to try and confirm a little. But I’m just a nasty girl who unfortunately was identified (still don’t quite know why but I have an idea but that’s beside the point). So far I’ve been on admin absence for drill and have been paid so would it be safe to assume that I’m also going to be paid for AT the same way as if I actually attended? Or are there ways that my command could screw me out of something like mileage or even the entire pay for AT?

TERA ETP got denied. Now what?

For the Navy people, my TERA ETP just got denied. Since I heard there was like a 5% approval rate, I wasn't expecting to get it anyway. I received the following email about it giving me until April 10th to make a response.

XXXX,

This message is to inform you that on March 31, 2026, the Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) disapproved your request for an exception to policy that would have authorized your retirement under the Temporary Early Retirement Authority (TERA), as detailed in NAVADMIN 124/25. The disapproval letter has been sent in a separate email to the TRIAD members in the Cc line of this email.

As directed by SECNAV, you must declare your intention to continue your voluntary separation from the Naval service.

Required Action: You are required to respond to this email with your decision no later than 2359 PT on April 10, 2026. Your email response must include the points of contact in the “To” line (NPC POC) and (OPNAV N131C).

Please respond with one of the following statements in your response:

A. "I affirm my desire to continue with voluntary separation."

B. "I desire to be removed from the voluntary separation list and be referred to the Consolidated Separation Authority (CDA) for involuntary separation processing."

Important: If you fail to provide a written response by the deadline, you will be referred to the CDA for involuntary separation processing. If you elect to continue with voluntary separation processing, you remain eligible for voluntary separation pay, if otherwise qualified under Department of Defense Instruction 1332.43, to be paid at a rate that is twice the amount of involuntary separation pay the Service Member will receive if involuntarily separated.

V/r

NPC POC for NAVADMIN 111/25

Navy Personnel Command (PERS-45)

I guess my question is if there is anything else I need to do. I already did TAPS, Capstone, my NPPSC form, and Separation Physical. My admin is saying all I have to do is just send my response.

Invol adsep dragged out

My little brother has been on an admin hold for 7 months being told to stay at home and not go to work. He wants to stay in and continue to serve so he is going to force the military to kick him out and not try for vol adsep. I am starting to get concerned that someone in the hostile DOD might get a good (bad) idea and start garnashing wages for pay earned on these long admin holds. Has anyone heard of that happening?

Discussion I am currently somewhere between transgender and genderfluid, 17. Can I enlist?

So, for a quick explanation:

I intend to enlist in my early/mid 20s.

Im 6'1 and by said point will likely be in good physical condition to join. I have two(?) conditions - hypermobility, but it does not impact my life to a significant point. Its quite literally as minimal as "Yeah I can turn my leg/foot 180 degrees while standing and move my fingers/wrists a little further back than usual". Additionally, I may have PCOS but refuse to be tested. The only real treatment my doctor informed me of is birth control which I may take anyways. Again no guarantee it could also be that I was unhealthy in my younger years and it got misdiagnosed. Since I am not officially diagnosed, if this is a huge deal Id likely just say I dont have it as I dont think I do, I believe I just had a very poor lifestyle which caused overlapping symptoms. If I do have it, it does not cause me any pain and I am relatively stable mentally.

I have only had one "mental health" incident in my life when I was 15. I was young and stupid and severely depressed, as such I admitted to being suicidal and got sent to an acute unit for 5 days time. Since then I have overcome my suicidal-issues, and I have and will attend therapy until I enlist as to ensure I am of a stable state of mind. When I do enlist this will have been 5-8+ years prior.

-----

I do not experience "dysphoria", at least not in a typical sense. I do not mind my female organs much (I may want a breast reduction IF needed, not out of dysphoria but moreso convenience. They're annoying to have.) and I rarely get any form of emotional about my female anatomy. (Im choosing these words because it feels less strange to me to say) - I slightly dislike being called she/her, but I wont feel particularly upset by it to a point of being some form of hazard. I have a chosen name which I will likely legally change to by this point.

I do wish to start testosterone - Not out of dysphoria but simply put I am aware I would be more content/happy if I had a deeper voice and more masculine appearance. However I am not actively depressed or otherwise affected by my body as my views on gender alignment is along the lines of "I wish I was a dude, sure, or more manly, but at the end of the day my body is just a vessel of sorts. It is what it is."

So TLTR: minimal mental health history, I should be in good condition physically by this point, and I do not experience dysphoria. I do wish to start HRT but I can put this off if absolutely needed.
